Mexico Tourist Card
Purpose: Also known as the Forma Migratoria Múltiple (FMM), the Mexico Tourist Card is a mandatory entry form for all foreign tourists entering Mexico by land, air, or sea. This applies even if you're visa-exempt.
When to apply: It’s recommended to apply three days in advance.
Duration and extensions The Mexico Tourist Card is required for every entry and your maximum stay period will depend on your visa or the nationality of your passport. The Tourist Card cannot be extended.
Entries: The Mexico Tourist Card is required for every entry into the country.
Ports of entry: The Mexico Tourist Card can be used at any Mexican border crossing open to the public.
Delivery format: An approved Mexico Tourist Card is electronically linked to your passport, but travelers are advised to carry a printed copy of the approval PDF when entering Mexico.s.
Mexico Electronic Authorization
Purpose: The Mexico Electronic Authorization (the Sistema de Autorización Electrónica or ETA) is for travelers from Russia, Ukraine, Turkey (red passport holders only), and certain Peruvian transit passengers.
When to apply: It’s recommended to apply at least a week in advance.
Duration and extensions The Mexico ETA can only be used once within 30 days of approval and allows a stay of up to 180 days. It is not extendable
Entries: The visa is issued as a single-entry document
Ports of entry: The Mexico Electronic Authorization can only be used when arriving in the country by air.
Delivery format: An approved Mexico ETA is electronically linked to your passport, but travelers are advised to carry a printed copy of the approval PDF when entering Mexico.
Mexico eVisa for Brazilians
Purpose: The Mexico eVisa is a digital travel authorization specifically for citizens of Brazil traveling for tourism, business, or transit. This system was reinstated in early 2026 to streamline travel and replace the mandatory in-person consular interview process that had been in place since 2022.
Note: Brazilians who hold a valid visa or permanent residency for the USA, Canada, Japan, UK, or Schengen Area remain visa-exempt and do not need to apply for this eVisa.
When to apply: It is recommended to apply at least 48 to 72 hours before your flight. While many applications are processed within minutes or hours, the official recommendation is to allow a small buffer for system processing.
Duration and extensions: The eVisa is valid for a stay of up to 180 days per entry. This eVisa cannot be extended or renewed from within Mexico.
Entries: The eVisa is valid for a Single Entry.
Ports of entry: The eVisa is strictly for air travel only. You must arrive at a Mexican international airport. If you intend to enter Mexico by land (e.g., crossing from the US or Guatemala) or by sea, you are still required to obtain a physical consular visa sticker in your passport.
Delivery format: The approved eVisa is sent as a PDF via email. You must print the authorization and present the physical paper copy at the airline check-in counter and to the immigration officer at the border. Travelers are also required to have a valid electronic passport (with the chip symbol) to use this system.
Mexico Tourist Visa*
The Mexico Tourist Visa, also called a Visitor Visa, is for non visa-exempt travelers and must be applied for through an embassy or consulate. It is used for tourism, temporary volunteer work, or short business trips.
This multiple-entry visa is valid for 6 months and allows stays of up to 180 days.

Mexico Electronic Pre-Registration*
This pre-registration form is required for all Colombian travelers flying to Mexico. It allows travelers to share trip details and receive pre-approval from immigration before boarding.
Once approved, you’ll get a QR code and a Tourist Card, valid for up to 180 days.
