Mexican visa policy for Filipino citizens

Philippine citizens may enter Mexico without a visa for tourism, business, or transit (up to 180 days) if they hold a valid, multiple-entry visa or permanent residence from the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Japan, or any Schengen Area country. If they do not meet these conditions, they must apply for a Mexico Visitor Visa through a Mexican embassy or consulate in the Philippines.

iVisa offers one Mexico entry document for Philippines travelers:

Mexico Tourist Card - Land (FMM): This immigration form is mandatory for Philippine citizens entering Mexico by land. The Tourist Card (Forma Migratoria Múltiple) allows stays of up to 180 days for tourism and must be presented upon entry and exit. It is not a visa.

General Mexico visa requirements for Philippines travelers are:

  • Philippine passport valid for at least six months
  • Completed visa application form
  • Passport-size photo
  • Confirmed round-trip flight ticket and accommodation reservation
  • Proof of sufficient financial means (such as recent 3 months bank statements)
  • Invitation letter (if visiting family/friends or traveling for business)

FAQs

Philippine citizens need a visa to enter Mexico unless they hold a valid, multiple-entry visa or permanent residence permit from the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Japan, or a Schengen Area country. If they meet this condition, they may enter Mexico without a Mexican visa for tourism, business, or transit purposes (up to 180 days).

If they do not qualify under these exemptions, they must apply for a Mexico Visitor Visa at a Mexican embassy or consulate before traveling.

In addition, they must complete the Tourist Card (Forma Migratoria Múltiple – FMM), a digital immigration card for land or air entries.

The Mexico Tourist Card (Forma Migratoria Múltiple – FMM) for land entry is typically processed within 24 hours when applying online.

Keep in mind that the Tourist Card is not a visa. If you require a traditional Mexico Visitor Visa, processing times are determined by the Mexican embassy or consulate and may vary depending on location and season.

Philippine citizens can typically stay up to 180 days, as determined by Mexican immigration authorities at the port of entry..

Yes. Philippine citizens entering Mexico by land are required to obtain a Mexico Tourist Card (FMM). This document must be presented upon entry and exit.

Travelers arriving by air usually receive the corresponding immigration registration at the airport as part of the entry process.

If a Philippine passport holder remains in the international transit area of a Mexican airport and does not pass through immigration control, a Mexican visa is generally not required.

However, if the transit requires clearing immigration or exiting the airport, the traveler must meet Mexico’s entry requirements, including holding a valid visa or qualifying for a visa exemption.

Extensions of stay are not automatically granted. Any extension request must be submitted to Mexico’s National Immigration Institute (INM) and is evaluated on a case-by-case basis.

Overstaying the authorized period may result in fines or future entry restrictions.
