There are many things to do in such an exotic country like Namibia. You can climb dunes, explore the deepest canyon in Africa, or get lost in one of Africa’s richest rock art sites. Another possible thing to do in Nambia is to watch wildlife shimmer against one of the greatest pans on earth. Besides, thanks to the vast desert environment in Namibia, you can easily take time to yourself and enjoy silence and quietness. Namibia is one country full of vibrant cities where you’ll find people very excited about their history and their future. Namibians are always ready to tell you interesting stories about their rich cultural past. Besides, this country currently has a democratic government that allows tourists to move effortlessly through all of its paths so that anyone can learn more about Namibian culture, history, and nature. As a plus, this country tends to ask for a few travel documents to enter. By now, you might only need to apply for the Namibia Health Questionnaire. Few countries require a paper visa to enter. As for the many things you can do in this country, keep in mind that you can enjoy safari tourism. Whether you plan your own self-drive safari or you join a group of adventurers, take into account that Namibia has one of Africa’s best-kept safari spots. You can easily explore places like Etosha National Park or Bwabwata National Park, where you’ll be able to watch some of the most beautiful species in the country, including elephants, zebras, and giraffes. Namibia has an endless variety of safari options. Aside from the ones mentioned before, you can also experience the silence of the Kalahari Desert and spot one of 430 bird species in the Caprivi area, search for desert elephants in Damaraland and interact with the incredible Himba community in the remote Kaokoveld. Another type of tourism you can enjoy in Namibia is adventure tourism. This type of tourism is available through the land, air, and water-based territories. With this type of tourism, you can enjoy quad biking, 4x4 trails, hiking, birding, skydiving, kayaking, and many more along the coast and the dessert. Besides, you can also spend a bit of extra time getting introduced to indigenous people whose cultures are millenary. Once you get to know them, you’ll be ready to discover more about their cultures, including doing things like eating mushrooms or walking in the surrounding areas. If you’re lucky enough, you might be able to even explore the ancient rock artwork at Twyfelfontein, Namibia's only World Heritage Site. Speaking about indigenous people and ancient cultures, another type of tourism you can try in Namibia is Community Based Tourism. It might be a great idea if you prefer to do something really helpful to the locals, although you already do a lot by taking tours in the country. Namibia is the first country in the world to incorporate environmental security into its Constitution. That’s why the government launched many community-based tourism options so that you can enjoy any of them. You can go to the Ngoma Craft Centre in the Zambezi Region and help the locals with the beautiful art that’s visible here. Also, feel free to go to the Sheshe Craft Centre to support local craft makers, so that this cultural tradition in crafting remains in Namibia for more years in the future. Do you prefer to enjoy the city life after a long day walking in the desert? No worries, you can arrange a tour to the capital city, Windhoek, and get ready to explore a mix between tradition and modernity. Windhoek is the economic, political, social, and cultural center of Namibia, which is why it has almost every Namibian national enterprise, including government buildings, schools, banks, local shops, and more. This city developed at the site of a permanent spring popular for the indigenous pastoral communities. By walking through its stress, you’ll see a lot of German and French influence, especially in the restaurants and colonial buildings. Enjoying a nice stay in Namibia isn’t difficult, but it’s important to consider some items while packaging so that you won’t have to suffer from the heat or the strong winds in the desert. Although temperatures may change from region to region, Namibia is usually very hot, but with surprisingly cool nights. That’s why we recommend you to layer clothing. You can pack cool, cotton fabrics for the daytime, and also a sweater or a jacket for fresh evenings and nights. Some of the essential items you cannot forget are insect repellent, malaria prophylaxis, bandaids, sunscreen, moisturizing lotions, lip balm, and a hat. Remember to also wear comfortable shoes while staying there so that you can walk without any pain or discomfort, especially in the desert. If you go on a safari or an adventure tour, remember to take binoculars, as they’re helpful to watch the wildlife easier. Plus, a good camera is always great to take amazing pictures. As for the travel documentation before entering the country, remember that few countries require a visa, but you can always check that on our visa checker (visible on our home page or the upper side of this page). Also, the Namibia Health Questionnaire is mandatory, as this document was recently launched to avoid any risk with the coronavirus or similar diseases. The Namibia Health Questionnaire is an easy-to-get permit. You’ll be able to apply for it on our website, and it won’t take you too much time. Better yet, you’ll be able to complete an application request to get the Namibia Health Questionnaire within a few minutes, meaning that you can apply from anywhere, be it at home or at your favorite coffeehouse, wherever you like. The Namibia Health Questionnaire won’t require you to get too many things on your side. Aside from your basic information, you’ll just need a negative COVID-19 test result and your valid passport, of course. Remember that your passport must be valid for at least 6 months after arrival, otherwise you could encounter issues when arriving at the airport.
