Uruguay is a small country in South America which has a coastline on the Atlantic Ocean. It is a beautiful country that brings plenty of tourists every year. Many of them come for the football, but let’s not forget that Uruguay has many beaches. The country may be small, but it has plenty to offer. The beaches are superb, and watching the sun rise over the Atlantic Ocean while you sit under a palm tree with a cup of coffee in your hand is something that you simply have to experience. Water sports are available, and you can also go diving and surfing. You are going to have a lovely vacation in Uruguay.

Before you travel to Uruguay, you need to see whether or not you need a visa to enter the country. Fortunately, Uruguay has a pretty lenient visa policy. First of all, the citizens of 85 states and jurisdictions can enter Uruguay without a visa and stay for up to 90 days in the country. Secondly, all the nationals of South America - except the citizens of Venezuela, Guyana, Suriname, and French Guiana - can enter Uruguay only with an ID card. All the other visa-exempt nationals need a passport. Lastly, the rest of the nationalities in the world need to apply for a visa at the nearest Uruguayan diplomatic mission.

To check in which category of travelers you fit in, you can take a look over Uruguay’s visa policy. Although, we are sure that you are going to prefer iVisa’s Visa Checker. It is a simple tool that tells you what you need to know in just a few clicks. First, you need to access the feature by clicking on the Visa Checker in the top right corner of this page. Then, you must select your country of origin from the drag-down menu on the left and add Uruguay in the box on the right. The result will tell you if you need a Uruguay visa, and if you do, you will be provided a list of the nearest embassies.

In case you require a visa to travel to Uruguay, you need to learn about the visa requirements. You can do your research online, but we advise caution because the information you find online is not always the most reliable. As an alternative, we advise you to call the issuing authority and ask about the requirements. It is the most legitimate source of information. In the meantime, what we can tell you is that all applicants must have a valid passport that does not expire for at least another 6 months from the date of arrival in Uruguay.
