Greece visa requirements for Georgian citizens

Georgian citizens do not currently need a visa to visit Greece for short stays of up to 90 days within a 180-day period for tourism or business, provided they hold a biometric passport. However, once the system becomes mandatory, travelers from Georgia will need to obtain an ETIAS travel authorization before entering Greece or any other Schengen Area country.

ETIAS for Greece: A mandatory online travel authorization for visa-exempt travelers visiting the Schengen Area. Once implemented, it will allow Georgian citizens to enter Greece for short stays of up to 90 days within a 180-day period for tourism, business, or transit.

  • I was forced into paying for an " add on" which I did not require just to be able to complete the visa application. The visa is available for free from the embassy. I chose to pay for the ease of securing the document with our vaccination status endorsed on the document. I provided the necessary Government proof of vaccination and it is not endorsed on the visa. A poor and, seemingly, oppressive process that appears to be designed to require the selection of an add on when one is not required nor wanted. Last time I use the service from now on I shall apply through the embassy for free.

  • I'd tried repeatedly to pull up the Passenger Locator Form on govgr but it kept saying there was an error. Therefore the cost of iVisa was well worth it.

  • Process was overall pretty smooth, however when the documents were sent to me some of the information I had entered didn't match what the finished document said. Jury is out on how long it will take to remedy.

Do Georgian citizens need a visa for Greece?

No, Georgian citizens do not currently need a visa to visit Greece for tourism or business stays of up to 90 days within a 180-day period, provided they hold a biometric passport. However, once ETIAS starts operating and its transitional period ends, travelers from Georgia will need to obtain an ETIAS travel authorization before entering Greece or other Schengen Area countries.

What is the processing time for ETIAS for Greece for Georgian citizens?

The ETIAS system has not launched yet, so official processing times have not been confirmed. Most applications are expected to be processed quickly once the system becomes operational. With iVisa, you can apply for the ETIAS for Greece online and receive expert guidance throughout the process.

How long can Georgian citizens stay in Greece?

Georgian citizens can stay in Greece and the wider Schengen Area for up to 90 days within a 180-day period for tourism, business, or transit without a visa, provided they hold a biometric passport. Once ETIAS becomes mandatory, travelers will still be able to stay for up to 90 days within a 180-day period under the same conditions.

Do Georgian citizens need a visa when transiting through Greece?

Georgian passport holders generally do not need a visa for airport transit in Greece if they remain in the international transit area and do not pass through immigration. If you need to leave the airport or enter the Schengen Area during transit, you must meet the standard entry requirements.

Can Georgian citizens extend their stay in Greece?

Short stays in Greece under visa-free entry or ETIAS authorization cannot usually be extended beyond 90 days within a 180-day period. Travelers who wish to stay longer must apply for a long-stay visa or residence permit issued by Greek authorities before their permitted stay expires.
