Nepalese visa policy for Bangladeshi citizens

Bangladeshi citizens are eligible to obtain a visa upon arrival in Nepal, but they must complete an electronic pre-registration for the Nepal Visa-on-Arrival before landing. As members of the SAARC region, Bangladeshi nationals are entitled to a gratis (free) tourist visa for a stay of up to 30 days, provided it is their first visit to Nepal within the current calendar year (January to December). If a traveler has already utilized their free entry for the year or intends to stay longer than 30 days, standard visa fees must be paid at the airport.

iVisa offers the following Nepal entry document for Bangladeshi travelers:

Nepal Visa-on-Arrival: This is a mandatory digital authorization available as a multiple-entry permit that’s valid for 15, 30 or 90 days. After submitting the online form, travelers receive a confirmation slip. This slip must be presented at the bank counter at Immigration to complete the payment, which can be done in cash or with a debit card. Finally, travelers must go to the Immigration Desk with the form, the payment receipt, and their passport to receive the visa

General Nepal visa requirements for Bangladeshi travelers are:

  • Valid Bangladeshi passport with at least six months of validity remaining
  • Printed Nepal Visa-on-Arrival confirmation slip
  • Passport photo
  • Payment receipt from the airport bank counter
  • Proof of accommodation in Nepal
  • Confirmed round-trip flight ticket

FAQs

Yes, Bangladeshi citizens need a visa to enter Nepal. However, they are eligible for a Visa-on-Arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport and other designated entry points. As members of the SAARC region, Bangladeshi nationals can receive a gratis (free) tourist visa for a stay of up to 30 days, provided it is their first visit to Nepal in that calendar year (January to December).

The standard processing time for a visa-on-arrival pre-registration is 24 hours. Once at the airport, the process of paying at the bank counter and receiving the visa at the Immigration Desk typically takes between 30 and 60 minutes, depending on the queue.

Bangladeshi travelers can choose between a 15-day, 30-day, or 90-day visa during their application. While the first 30 days of the first visit in a calendar year are free, the maximum cumulative stay for any tourist in Nepal is 150 days within a single calendar year (January to December).

Yes, Bangladeshi citizens generally need a 9(b) Transit Visa if they intend to leave the airport's international transit area or if their transit involves a layover longer than 24 hours. The transit visa allows for a maximum stay of 72 hours. If a traveler remains within the international transit zone and is booked on a connecting flight within a few hours, a visa may not be required, but it is highly advised to confirm with the airline, as transit rules can vary based on terminal changes at Ninoy Aquino International Airport.

Yes, Bangladeshi nationals can apply for a visa extension if they wish to stay beyond the initial 59 days. Extensions must be processed through the Bureau of Immigration (BI) in Nepal at least one week before the current stay expires. Visa-required nationals, including Bangladeshis, are permitted to extend their stay in increments for an accumulated total of up to 24 months.
