I had read stories from people who had waited months for a Visa and from people who had never heard back, I received mine the next day.
Very straight forward application, fast service good communication! A little more money but worth it!
Once the application was submitted the process went quite smoothly. What wasn't so good was the tight parameters around providing satisfactory ID. Files could only be a certain type, size, age, type of picture, etc making it difficult to comply.
Very impressed with the ease, communication and speed of this process. Unexpected and much appreciated.
First time I needed a Visa. Process was pretty simple and straight forward. Customer service was very helpful.
The application process was easy and visa granted in a timely fashion. If there was 1 draw back it would be the price (on the high side).
Ivisa was implementable in helping my boyfriend and I get our visa applications approved for our African Safari to Kenya and Tanzania. They reviewed all of our information and documents to make sure everything was correct before sending it through for approval. I highly recommend them.
All ivisa staff were very helpful and responsive and ensured I did the firms correctly, very fast and on top of everything re the visa approval! Would definitely recommend them to help you navigate the visa requirements!
i tried to get a visa to Tanzania a few times with no success until i found you. thanks for quick an efficient service.
Easy to use interface, updates on progress, and speed of obtaining desired visa. Really great!
Tanzania visa FAQs
Quick answers to the most common questions about the Tanzania Tourist eVisa.
Still have questions?
Our visa experts are available 24/7 on chat, email, and WhatsApp.
Is the Tanzania eVisa valid for Zanzibar?
Yes. The Tanzania eVisa covers both Mainland Tanzania and Zanzibar. However, travelers visiting Zanzibar must now pay for mandatory travel insurance (approx. $44) for 92 days' cover, via the official Zanzibar portal. This is a separate requirement from the visa.
Which ports of entry accept the Tanzania eVisa?
The Tanzania eVisa is only valid for entry at designated ports: Air: Julius Nyerere (DAR), Kilimanjaro (JRO), Abeid Amani Karume (ZNZ), and Mwanza (MWZ). Land: Namanga, Sirari, Horohoro, Mutukula, Rusumo, Tunduma, and Kasumulu. Sea: Dar es Salaam Port and Zanzibar Port. Entry through remote border stations may require a physical visa obtained at an embassy.
Why do US citizens have to pay $100 for a Tanzania Tourist eVisa?
US citizens are not eligible for the $50 single-entry visa. By government policy they must apply for the multiple-entry visa, which costs $100. It is valid for one year and allows stays of up to 90 days per visit.
What is a Tanzania Referral Visa and do I need one?
Citizens from countries like Nigeria, Pakistan, and Lebanon (among others) fall under the Referral Category. These travelers cannot get an instant eVisa and require approval from the Commissioner General of Immigration, which can take up to two months.
Do I need a yellow fever certificate for my Tanzania Tourist eVisa?
If you are arriving from or have transited (for more than 12 hours) through a country with a risk of yellow fever (e.g., Kenya, Ethiopia, or Uganda), you must present an International Certificate of Vaccination upon arrival.
Do I need a visa to transit through Tanzania?
If you plan to leave the airport transit area for a stay of less than 7 days, you must apply for a Transit Visa ($30). It is not required if you stay within the international terminal between connecting flights.
Can I apply for a new eVisa while I'm already in Tanzania?
No. The eVisa is for pre-arrival only. If you wish to stay longer, you must apply for a formal extension at a local immigration office (like those in Dar es Salaam or Arusha) before your current permit expires.
How long does Tanzania Tourist eVisa processing take?
Processing typically takes a few business days. We recommend applying at least one week before travel.
Which nationalities don't need a visa when entering Tanzania?
Citizens of several countries, including Kenya, Uganda, South Africa, and Singapore, are visa-exempt for short stays. They can enter using a valid passport but must still fulfill other entry requirements like having a return ticket.
Do children/minors need their own Tanzania Tourist eVisa?
Yes. Every traveler, including infants, must have an individual eVisa. Parents can manage these applications easily through iVisa using the "Add another person" feature.
What happens if my Tanzania Tourist eVisa application is denied?
Denials are often due to blurry passport photos or typos. If your application is rejected, you can usually re-apply with corrected info. iVisa offers denial protection to help cover costs if your application is not approved.
Can I extend my Tanzania Tourist eVisa?
Yes. A standard single-entry visa can often be extended for an additional 90 days (totaling 180 days) at a Regional Immigration Office within Tanzania. This must be done in person before your original 90 days expire.
