Do I need a visa for Uganda?

Most international travelers, including those from the US, UK, and EU, require a visa. However, as of 2026, citizens of 40 countries—including Ireland, UAE, and several Commonwealth nations—enjoy visa-free entry for up to three months.

Important: Uganda no longer issues standard visas on arrival. You must have your approval letter before you travel.

How will I receive the Uganda Tourist eVisa?

Once approved, you will receive an Approval Letter via email as a PDF. You must print this letter and carry it with you. At Entebbe International Airport or land borders, the immigration officer will scan the barcode on your letter, capture your biometrics, and place the actual visa sticker in your passport.

Is the Yellow Fever certificate mandatory for the Uganda eVisa?

Yes. Uganda strictly enforces Yellow Fever vaccination for all travelers. You must upload a copy of your International Certificate of Vaccination during the application and present the physical "Yellow Card" upon arrival. Failure to do so can result in denied entry or a mandatory vaccination at the airport at your own expense.

How long can I stay in Uganda with an eVisa?

The standard Uganda Tourist eVisa allows for a stay of up to 90 days. If you wish to stay longer, you can apply for an extension of up to 60 days via the official e-immigration portal while you are still in the country.
