Zambia eVisa — 90 dayseVisa
From$119.99
- Who it's for
- Travelers visiting Zambia for tourism, business or seeing family. For some nationalities the eVisa is a convenience they could also arrange on arrival, while others must hold advance clearance from the Director General of Immigration before they board.
- Permitted activities
- Tourism, business visits and ordinary visits, all on the same visitor visa. Employment and residence need separate permits, which this is not.
- How you travel
- Zambia ties eVisa applications to specific ports, covering Kenneth Kaunda International in Lusaka, Harry Mwanga Nkumbula International in Livingstone, and the Victoria Falls and Kazungula borders on the Zambian side. Air arrivals are asked for a return ticket, while land and water arrivals show funds for their stay and departure.
- Delivery format
- A PDF authorization letter, emailed and downloadable. It is the approval, not the visa itself, and the visa is affixed in your passport at the port of entry.
- Good to know
- Nothing about an approved application can be amended, so a change of plan means starting again. Applicants under 16 are included on an accompanying adult's application, and from 16 they apply on their own. Approval is not a guarantee of entry, which an officer decides at the border.
- Validity
- Valid for 90 days
- Entry
- Single entry
- Length of stay
- Stay up to 90 days in total
- Processing time
- Get it in as fast as 12 days

Zambia visa FAQs
Quick answers to the most common questions about the Zambia eVisa.
Still have questions?
Our visa experts are available 24/7 on chat, email, and WhatsApp.
Do I need a visa for Zambia?
Zambia recently expanded its visa-exempt list. Citizens of the USA, UK, Canada, Australia, China, South Korea, and the EU do NOT need a visa for tourism. If you are from a non-exempt country (Category B or C), you must apply for an eVisa or obtain one on arrival. Check our visa checker to confirm your specific status.
What is the KAZA UniVisa?
The KAZA UniVisa ($50) allows you to travel between Zambia and Zimbabwe multiple times for 30 days. It also covers day trips to Botswana via the Kazungula border. It is available online or at major airports like Lusaka and Livingstone.
How will I receive the Zambia eVisa?
You will receive an eVisa approval letter as a PDF via email. Unlike some other eVisas, you must print a physical copy of this letter. Digital copies on phones are often rejected by immigration officers. If you applied through iVisa, you'll also find a copy of your PDF in your dashboard.
Do I need a visa for a layover in Zambia?
If you remain in the airport transit area, you do not need a visa. If you're leaving the airport, you must have a visa, if you're not on the visa-free nationality list. Zambia has a dedicated Transit eVisa category. While a standard Tourist eVisa technically allows entry, it is more expensive and requires more documentation.
How long can I stay in Zambia?
Tourists are generally permitted to stay for a total of 90 days per 12-month period. Business visitors are now also permitted up to 90 days in a rolling 12-month period.
What is the "Cover Letter" requirement?
Unlike many countries, Zambia requires a cover letter for every application. It must be addressed to the "Director General of Immigration," explain your visit, and be manually signed by you.
Can I extend my stay in Zambia?
You can extend your stay in Zambia by visiting any local Department of Immigration office in person to request an extension of your initial entry stamp. Tourists are permitted to stay for a total of 90 days within a 12-month period, and while the first 30 days are typically granted upon entry, you can apply for two additional 30-day extensions for free. You should submit your request at least five days before your current status expires.
What is the processing time for the Zambia eVisa?
The Zambian government typically processes applications within 3 to 5 working days. With iVisa, you can get your Zambia eVisa in as fast as 12 days.
Do children/minors need a Zambia eVisa?
Yes. Every traveler, regardless of age, must have their own approved visa. For minors, you may be required to provide a birth certificate and a letter of consent if they are traveling with only one parent or a legal guardian. You can use iVisa's "Add another person" feature to manage the entire family's applications in one go.
What happens if my Zambia eVisa application is rejected?
The most common reasons for rejection are blurry passport scans or incorrect personal information that doesn't match the passport. If your application is rejected, iVisa can help you identify the specific issue and assist with a re-application.
