Colombia Check-MIG Form

Purpose: The Colombia Check-MIG Form is a mandatory travel and health declaration for all air passengers entering or leaving Colombia. You must complete it before your flight arrives and departs from the country.

When to apply: It’s recommended to apply within 72 hours of your flight.

Duration and extensions The Colombia Check-MIG Form isn’t a visa and the duration of stay will depend on your nationality or visa.

Entries: A Colombia Check-MIG Form is required for every entry into the country.

Ports of entry: The Colombia Check-MIG Form is accepted at all ports of entry.

Delivery format: Once you complete and submit the form online, you receive a digital confirmation/receipt, often with a QR code. This can be saved on your mobile device or printed. Airlines or immigration officers may ask for this confirmation at check-in or border control.

Visitor Visa (Type V)*

The Visitor Visa is for travelers from visa-required countries or those visiting Colombia for tourism, digital nomad work, medical treatment, volunteering, or business.

This visa is typically valid for 90 days per entry, and in some cases, can be issued for up to two years depending on your purpose of travel.

*Unfortunately, we currently don’t offer the Visitor Visa.

Migrant Visa (Type M)*

The Migrant Visa is ideal for foreigners who plan to live in Colombia for an extended period. It includes several categories such as marriage to a Colombian national, employment, investment, study, or retirement.

This visa is usually valid for up to three years and allows multiple entries and exits.

*Unfortunately, we currently don’t offer the Migrant Visa.

Resident Visa (Type R)*

The Resident Visa is for foreigners looking to settle in Colombia permanently. It is commonly issued to those who have held a Migrant Visa for five years, have Colombian children, or were previously Colombian citizens.

This visa allows for indefinite stay and provides a path to full residency rights.

*Unfortunately, we currently don’t offer the Resident Visa.

Many foreign nationals, including U.S., European Union, and UK citizens, may enter Colombia visa-free for short stays. Countries without visa-free travel, including China, India, South Africa, and Nigeria, must obtain an online visa.

All travelers entering Colombia must complete the Check-Mig Form.
