How long is the ETIAS Austria valid for?

The ETIAS visa waiver for Austria is valid from the date of issue, this is usually within 72 hours of making an application. From this point, the ETIAS visa waiver is valid for 3 years or until the associated passport expires. Whichever date comes first.

  • If the applicant is a minor, the identity of the person responsible for the minor;
  • If the application is submitted by a person different from the applicant, the identity of the person and company that he or she represents (if applicable).
  • For family members of EU citizens/third country nationals benefiting from free movement without residence cards: their status as family member; the identity details of the family member with whom the applicant has ties; their family ties.

Do I need an ETIAS Austria if I’m transiting through the country?

Yes, you will need to apply for ETIAS if you are transiting through Austria. If you do not hold a valid ETIAS you will not be able to travel within, or through the country, for onward travel to another Schengen zone member country.
