The Colombian GDP received US$5,880.3 billion from tourism programs, generating a total of 556,135 jobs. This GDP contribution is 2% of the total and 2.5% of total employment was generated by tourism. Responsible tourism is now an absolute necessity for the country seeing as how it reduces the negative environmental, social, and economic impacts while making positive influences on cultural and natural heritage conservation. Colombia may be a country with a bad reputation, but it is blessed with a lot of beautiful tourist attractions that can easily carry its tourism business. Many of the tourist spots in the country have been listed on the UNESCO World Heritage Site List. These include Providencia y Santa Catalina, the San Andrés insular department, and Santa Maria with its immediate surroundings. One of the more popular destinations for visitors is the world-famous coffee region, especially Salento, a traditional coffee town, and Quindio with its surroundings. Recent improvements to museums have made Bogotá, the nation’s capital, a busy tourist spot. These improvements, as well as major urban repairs (including entertainment facilities, rehabilitated public areas, creation of extensive cycling routes, and the expansion and improvement of parks), helped make the capital one of the most chic destinations for visitors to Colombia. Colombian territory includes parts of the Andes mountain range, the Amazon River basin, and the Amazon rainforest. It also contains the Pacific and Caribbean coasts, the llanos, and the desert regions of Tatacoa and La Guajira. The unique and extensive biodiversity of all these regions make Colombia a very viable destination for ecotourism. Book your vacation in Colombia and enter the country with a Health Declaration form. There is great variety in the fauna and flora of the country of Colombia which all made it possible for it to develop an impressive ecotourism program. The ecotourism industry is focusing on the national park system of the country, with lots of popular tourist spots in the catalog. Tour the country as safe as possible with a Travel Health Card. Popular destinations for ecotourism along the country’s Caribbean coast are the Cabo de la Vela on the Guajira Peninsula’s tip, and the Tayrona National Natural Park located in the mountain range called the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta. In the Andean region are the Tatacoa Desert and the Cocora Valley. There is also the Amacayacu National Park situated in the Amazon River basin as well as the islands of Gorgona and Malpelo in the Pacific Ocean. Unique places include the river of the seven colors located in Meta. Currently, there are nine World Heritage Sites in total in Colombia. This consists of two natural sites, six cultural sites, and one mixed site. The World Heritage Sites are as follows: Chiribiquete National Park or "The Maloca of the Jaguar" located in the northwest region of the Colombian Amazon, the Coffee Cultural Landscape of Colombia consisting of six farming landscapes the traditional method of growing and making coffee, the Historic Centre of Santa Cruz de Mompox which is a former town center in the Colonial period located in the Bolivar department, Los Katíos National Park which is the main territory where you can find endangered plants and animals, the Malpelo Fauna and Flora Sanctuary which is a designated non-fishing area and home to several species of sharks and rare fishes, National Archeological Park of Tierradentro is an archaeological park with tombs and statues, the Cartagena Port, Fortresses and Group of Monuments which is the largest set of fortifications in South America, the Andean Road System known as the most advanced road system in pre-Columbian times, and the San Agustin Archaeological Park consisting of pre-Columbian carved figures and native flora. Be ready when entering Colombia by obtaining a Medical Declaration. With all of these things in store for visitors to Colombia, it’s no wonder that there are a lot of tour packages available for them. Oftentimes, these tour packages focus on one or two of the more commercialized vacation spots. Rarely do they offer the whole experience, and even then it may not be successful. These are some tips that can make your holiday in Colombia one of the best experiences in your life. Number 1 is you have to explore as much of the country of Colombia as you can. The cities in Colombia all have their charm, as well as all their cultural and natural tourist spots. With parts of the Pacific Ocean, Caribbean Sea, Andes Mountains, and the Amazon River basin and rainforest inside the country’s territories, Colombia offers a rare chance for tourists and visitors to experience all of the things these places have to offer in one vacation. Number 2 is to use local tours to explore the country. You may be able to find a hidden gem that larger tour companies may miss. Since these small local tour companies often “stray from the beaten path”, you may encounter some things that you will never be able to encounter with a larger tour. Examples are the Utria National Park which is a rainforest and home to several indigenous species of butterflies and monkeys. You may also stray past Lake Suesca which is the home of ancient, pre-Columbian religious rites. It is one way to really explore Colombia and get to know its true nature. Don’t miss any of Colombia’s offerings. Book your vacation now and enter the country with a self-declaration form. Number 3 is to book domestic flights in intra-country travel. This can save you a lot of cash that you can then use on your vacation. Another way to save more money is to book flights months in advance so you can get the best deals. Number 4 is to stay away from tourist traps. While rarely life-threatening, these tourist traps can make you feel very uncomfortable and unsafe. Look out for these three signs of a tourist trap. The first is you feel like your back is against the wall when making purchases or bartering. Second is when someone forces you to show cash or your personal documents. Third is when you are obliged to stay by a store or in an area. In these cases, avoid being trapped by going to more populated places and contacting the tourist police at (1) 3374413. Be a responsible tourist and acquire all the necessary documents like the Medical Declaration form, Health Declaration form, self-declaration form, and the Travel Health Card in advance.

  • If your application has been reviewed by our team but has not yet been submitted to the government for approval, you will receive a credit for the full amount of the government fee (visa cost).
  • If your application has been submitted to the government for approval or a visa is already issued, unfortunately, no credit is available.

Our policy also applies to these circumstances:

  • If we make a mistake on your application, a 100% refund of the iVisa processing fee will be issued and we will process your visa again at no cost.
  • If you purchase rush or super rush processing additional fee and we do not deliver the travel document within the agreed timeframe, you will receive a credit for the iVisa rush or super rush processing fee.
