How long is an India Tourist Visa valid for?

Fill me in

When you're planning your trip to India, it's important to pick the right Tourist eVisa because it affects how long you can stay and how often you can visit. There are three Tourist eVisas, and each one has its own rules for how long it's good for and how many times you can enter India.

  • 30-day visa: Ideal for short trips, this visa allows you to enter India twice within a 30-day period from the date it’s issued. For instance, if your visa starts on August 1st, you must exit by August 30th.

  • 1-year visa: This visa is designed for travelers who plan multiple visits within a year. It offers multiple entries, with each stay capped at 90 days. For citizens of the US, Canada, or the UK, the stay per visit can extend to 180 days.

  • 5-year visa: For those intending to visit India several times over a few years, this visa offers multiple entries for five years from the date it’s issued. Similar to the 1-year visa, you can stay for up to 90 days on each visit, which extends to 180 days per visit for US, Canada, and UK citizens.

The 1-year and 5-year visas let you travel to India as often as you like, just remember to keep each visit within the allowed stay period.
