Nigeria eVisa

The Nigeria eVisa, officially known as the Nigeria Tourism Visa (F5A), is designed for travelers visiting Nigeria for tourism, family visits, business meetings, or medical treatment.

With this visa, you can:

  • 🏞️ Explore Nigeria’s cultural sites, national parks, and bustling markets
  • 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Visit family or friends residing in Nigeria
  • 💼 Attend business meetings, conferences, or trade fairs

The eVisa does not allow you to work, study, or take up long-term residency in Nigeria. For employment, academic programs, or extended stays, you’ll need to apply for a different visa.

The Nigeria eVisa is typically valid for 90 days, allows single entry, and lets you stay for up to 30 days per visit.

To apply for the eVisa, you’ll need:

  • 🛂 A passport valid for at least 6 months from your arrival date
  • 📸 A recent passport photo (white background recommended)
  • 📝 Birth certificate (for minors)
  • ✈️ Proof of onward or return travel (specific to Indian travelers)
  • 🏨 Proof of accommodation (specific to Indian travelers)
  • 💳 Payment for the visa fee and iVisa service fee

Nigeria Landing Card

The Nigeria Landing Card is a required digital entry form for travelers arriving in Nigeria. It registers your arrival details with Nigerian immigration authorities and helps speed up entry procedures at the airport.

With this Landing Card, you can:

  • ✅ Enter Nigeria without needing to fill out a paper form on arrival
  • ✅ Provide your travel and contact details to immigration authorities in advance
  • ✅ Move through border checks more efficiently upon arrival

The Landing Card does not replace your Nigeria eVisa or serve as a visa. You will still need a valid visa to enter Nigeria.

The Landing Card is valid for a single entry and must be completed within 72 hours before your departure to Nigeria.

To complete the Landing Card, you’ll need:

  • 🛂 A passport valid for at least 6 months from your arrival date
  • 📝 Basic personal and travel details
  • ✈️ Your arrival flight information
  • 🏨 Your accommodation address in Nigeria
  • 💳 Payment for the iVisa service fee

Transit visa (F3B)*

Purpose: Transit via Nigerian airports (up to 48 hours, no airport exit)

Validity: Up to 90 days

Entries: Single

Extension: Not extendable

Nigeria visa policy

Citizens of ECOWAS countries, including Ghana, Senegal, and Benin, do not need a visa for short visits to Nigeria. They can enter visa-free for stays typically up to 90 days for tourism or family visits.

For most other travelers, Nigeria offers an eVisa system, allowing eligible nationals to apply online before traveling. The standard eVisa typically allows a single entry with a stay of up to 30 days within a 90-day validity period, suitable for tourism, family visits, and short business trips.

For longer stays and specific purposes, Nigeria uses an embassy-based visa system. Employers, educational institutions, or family members in Nigeria act as sponsors, submitting applications directly to Nigerian embassies or consulates. This system is used for employment, study, family joining, and investment visas, and for obtaining temporary or permanent residence in Nigeria.

All travelers, regardless of visa type, must enter Nigeria with a passport valid for at least six months beyond their arrival date, with at least two blank pages for entry stamps.

Overstaying your visa in Nigeria can result in fines, detention, deportation, or bans on re-entry. Travelers should carefully track their authorized stay and apply for extensions or renewals before expiry if eligible.

Whether you need a visa to visit Nigeria depends on your nationality. Citizens of ECOWAS countries such as Ghana, Benin, and Senegal can enter Nigeria visa-free for short stays, while travelers from most other countries, including the US, UK, EU, Canada, and Australia, need to apply for a Nigeria eVisa or an embassy visa before traveling.
You can apply for a Nigeria eVisa by completing the online application through the Nigeria Immigration Service portal or the iVisa platform before you travel. You will fill out your personal and travel details, upload the required documents, pay the fees online, and receive your approved eVisa via email.
To apply for a Nigeria eVisa, you will need a passport valid for at least six months from your arrival date, a recent passport photo, proof of a return or onward flight booking, proof of accommodation such as a hotel reservation or host address, and bank statements from the last six months. If you are traveling with children, you will also need to provide a birth certificate and a parental consent letter for minors.
It typically takes 3 to 6 days for the Nigeria eVisa application to be processed once you have submitted your application and paid the fees online.
A visa on arrival for tourism is not currently available in Nigeria. Most travelers must apply for and receive an approved eVisa before departure unless they are eligible for visa-free entry as ECOWAS nationals.
You cannot extend or renew a Nigeria eVisa while in the country. If you overstay your visa, you may face fines, detention, deportation, or restrictions on re-entry to Nigeria in the future.
