- Who it's for
- Travelers whose nationality needs a visa to enter the Schengen area for a short stay. You apply through Malta when it is your main destination, or the country you enter first when you are spending equal time in several.
- Permitted activities
- Tourism, business trips, visiting family and friends, and transit. Working and living in the Schengen area are not permitted on this visa and need a different category applied for through a consulate.
- Where it's valid
- A Schengen visa issued by Malta admits you to every Schengen member state, not Malta alone, so your itinerary can cross borders inside the area on the one document.
- Delivery format
- This is an embassy visa, so it is a sticker placed in your passport rather than a file you print. You attend an appointment in person to give biometric data and hand over your documents, then your passport comes back with the visa in it.
- Good to know
- Every traveler needs their own visa, infants and children included, and a minor's application is signed by both parents or legal guardians. Applications go in during a set window before travel, and a visa service center such as VFS or TLScontact may add its own fee on top of the government one.
- Validity
- Valid for 90 days
- Entry
- Single entry
- Length of stay
- Stay up to 90 days per entry
- Processing time
- Get it in as fast as 45 days

I like how they respond as fast as they can. They are very considerate and understanding.
I give you 4 stars because 5 stars is perfection and I don't think anyone achieves this. The application form I found easy to fill in once I started and straightforward. The feedback with iVisa as been excellent.
Brilliant service, easy to complete, quick response from Embassy. Absolutely fantastic service. No complaints whatsoever. Recommended.
20 USD is over the top . Most other countries charge zero . You require us to have this document ,therefor you should shoulder the cost . I am not happy and I guess most others traveling to Malta are not happy . Especially a married couple with 3 Chilren who would have to pay an extra 100 dollars. You have weaponized COVID 19 to your Advantage , You should be ashamed.
This has been very painless and the team have been very helpful in their assistance and helpfulness to my stressing. Will use again
Everything was very easy to sort out. Would use again as and when
I used the link which was on Malta’s website, and it took me to this site. I am furious that I had to pay £15.00 for the service as if you look a little deeper the same form is available for free on the euplf form. The form that I was returned still does not have my correct contact details, and I ended up filling up a form myself for free in 10 mins. With my correct details. I am surprised they are recommended by the Maltese government!
I expected Malta digital covid certificate to avoid PCR testing! You sent documents which are for free accessible in the internet. I will not pay for this. Return my money!
Awesome.. Thank you for helping. May God bless all of the iVisa team..
First, by a misunderstanding, I thought I was paying for the visa itself. Just after I paid and got some email from them, I realized the big mistake I have made. It was for them to fill up documents that I had already done myself. But anyway, the document that were supposed to be filled in 24 hours, just arrived, 4 days after I paid for. So for that I am giving them 2 stars.

Still have questions?
Our visa experts are available 24/7 on chat, email, and WhatsApp.
Do I need a Malta Schengen Visa?
If your nationality requires a visa to enter Malta and is not on the visa-free list, you’ll need a Schengen Visa to enter Malta and all other Schengen member states for tourism or business.
Can I apply for a Malta Schengen Visa online?
While you can start the process and fill out the application form online through iVisa, the Schengen rules require you to attend an in-person appointment for biometric collection (fingerprints and photo) and to submit your physical documents at a consulate or visa center.
How will I receive the Malta Schengen Visa?
After the authorities in Malta process your application, you will receive your passport back with the visa sticker attached, ready for your trip. You can also find a copy of your Schengen Visa confirmation in your iVisa dashboard if applied through us.
How long can I stay in Malta?
The standard short-stay visa (Type C) allows you to stay for a maximum of 90 days within any 180-day period in the Schengen Area. This applies to the entire Schengen Zone, not just Malta. If you have a multiple-entry visa, you must still adhere to the 90/180-day rule.
Can I extend my stay in Malta?
Schengen Visa extensions are rarely granted. You can generally only extend your visa in cases of force majeure (e.g., natural disasters or flight cancellations), humanitarian reasons, or serious personal reasons that prevent you from leaving. You must apply at the local Foreigners' Authority before your visa expires.
What is the processing time of a Malta Schengen Visa?
The standard processing time is 15 calendar days from the moment your application reaches the Malta Consulate. However, it can take up to 45 days during peak seasons or if additional document verification is required. We recommend applying at least 2 months before your trip.
Do children/minors need a Malta Schengen Visa?
Yes. Every traveler, including infants and minors, requires their own visa. For minors, the application must be signed by both parents/legal guardians, and a birth certificate must be provided along with a notarized travel consent form if the child is traveling alone or with only one parent.
What is the difference between a Schengen Visa and ETIAS?
The Schengen Visa is for travelers who are not visa-exempt. The ETIAS (launching late 2026) is a digital travel authorization for citizens of visa-exempt countries (like the US, UK, and Canada). If you currently need a visa to enter Malta, you will continue to need a Schengen Visa.
