Yes. Namibia abolished its previous visa-free policy for Germany because of a lack of bilateral visa reciprocity. All German citizens traveling with a standard ordinary passport must now obtain a visa for stays of up to 90 days for tourism or business meetings.

How much does the Namibian visa cost and how do I pay?
For adult German citizens, the standard visa fee is N$ 1,600 (approx. €82). If you get your visa at the border checkpoint, you can pay using a credit/debit card or cash. Minor children aged 6 to 11 pay a reduced fee of N$ 800 (approx. €41), while children under 6 are entirely exempt from the fee.
Are there any exemptions to this visa requirement for German nationals?
Yes. If you hold a valid German diplomatic or official passport, you're still completely exempt from the visa requirement under a reciprocal bilateral agreement. This exemption doesn't apply to standard, civilian German passports.
Can I extend my 90-day tourist visa while inside Namibia?
Yes, if you wish to prolong your holiday, you can apply for an extension for up to a further three months (allowing a maximum total stay of 180 days). You must submit this application in person at the Ministry of Home Affairs, Immigration, Safety, and Security headquarters in Windhoek before your initial 90-day stamp expires. You can't work or look for local employment during this extension.
