- Who it's for
- Travelers from eligible countries visiting Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan issues one electronic visa and the purpose is a field on the form, so tourism, business, medical treatment, study and events all run through the same document.
- Permitted activities
- A general visit, most commonly tourism. It does not cover paid work in Azerbaijan, and it cannot be converted online into another visa or a residence permit.
- How you travel
- Accepted at air, land and sea checkpoints. You do not need one for international airside transit that never enters Azerbaijani territory, but you do for transit by land or sea, or for any transit where you clear immigration.
- Delivery format
- A machine-readable PDF sent by email, which you can download again from the portal if you lose it. Carry a printed copy on arrival.
- Good to know
- It is single-entry only, and a multiple-entry visa cannot be obtained online at all. If you are issued more than one, you must exit on the same one you entered with. Registration with the State Migration Service is required for a longer stay, and the electronic visa cannot be extended online.
- Validity
- Valid for 90 days
- Entry
- Single entry
- Length of stay
- Stay up to 30 days in total
- Processing time
- Get it in as fast as 3 hours

Still have questions?
Our visa experts are available 24/7 on chat, email, and WhatsApp.
Do I need an Azerbaijan visa?
Most nationalities require a visa to enter Azerbaijan. Citizens of approximately 95 countries (including the US, UK, and EU nations) are eligible for the ASAN eVisa (Azerbaijan eVisa). Citizens of select countries (such as Russia, Turkey, and some CIS nations) enjoy visa-free entry for stays up to 90 days. Additionally, a 2026 pilot program allows citizens of Saudi Arabia, Oman, Kuwait, and Bahrain to enter visa-free for up to 30 days (up to three times per year). Use our visa checker for specific rules regarding your nationality.
How will I receive the Azerbaijan eVisa?
You will receive your approved eVisa as a PDF document by email. You can show a digital copy on your phone, but printing a copy for the border officials at Heydar Aliyev International Airport is strongly recommended. A digital copy is also in your iVisa dashboard if you applied through us.
Can I use the Azerbaijan eVisa to visit the entire country?
Travel to areas near the Armenian border or former conflict zones is strictly regulated. Crucial note: If your passport shows evidence of a previous visit to the Nagorno-Karabakh region without Azerbaijani permission, you will be denied entry and potentially blacklisted.
How long can I stay in Azerbaijan with an eVisa?
The eVisa allows for a maximum stay of 30 days. The visa is valid for 90 days from the date it is issued. You must enter and exit Azerbaijan within this 90-day window, ensuring your total stay does not exceed 30 days.
Can I extend my stay in Azerbaijan?
No. The eVisa cannot be extended online. If you wish to stay longer than 30 days, you must apply for a temporary residence permit or an extension through the State Migration Service in Baku at least 48 hours before your visa expires.
Do I need to register with the authorities?
Yes, if you plan to stay in Azerbaijan for more than 15 days, you must register your place of stay with the State Migration Service. Most hotels do this automatically, but if you are staying in an Airbnb or private home, you must ensure the host registers you online or at a migration office to avoid a fine (approx. $200–$300) upon departure.
How long does Azerbaijan eVisa processing take?
The official government processing time is typically up to 5 business days. With iVisa, you can get your Azerbaijan eVisa in as fast as 3 hours.
Do children/minors need an Azerbaijan eVisa?
Yes, every traveler, regardless of age, must have their own individual eVisa and a valid passport. iVisa makes it easy to apply for the whole family in one go by using the 'Add another person' feature during the application.
What happens if I overstay my Azerbaijan visa?
Overstaying is a serious violation. You will be fined upon departure and may be banned from entering Azerbaijan for a period of 1 to 5 years.
What happens if my Azerbaijan eVisa application is denied?
The most common reason for denial is incorrect passport information. At iVisa, we help you avoid this issue with expert review, ensuring your information is correct and meets the government requirements the first time. iVisa also offers optional denial protection.
