What is the difference between the Kenya eTA and the East Africa Tourist Visa?
The Kenya eTA allows short stays in Kenya only. The East Africa Tourist Visa allows tourism travel between Kenya, Uganda, and Rwanda on a single visa for up to 90 days. If you plan to visit more than one of these three countries on the same trip, the East Africa Tourist Visa may be more appropriate. You must apply through the country you enter first.
When do I need a Kenya Transit Visa instead of an eTA?
Most travelers now require an eTA before traveling to Kenya, even for short stays. A Transit Visa may apply in limited situations for travelers connecting onward to a third destination, particularly if leaving the airport during a layover. Your nationality and itinerary determine which authorization is required.
Can I conduct business activities in Kenya with an eTA?
Yes, limited business activities such as meetings, conferences, and short professional visits are generally permitted under the eTA. However, employment or paid work in Kenya requires the appropriate work permit or pass issued in advance.
