With plenty of natural beauty from magnificent mountains, wind-blown deserts, to a breath-taking coastline, Oman is an excellent choice for those looking for the modern face of Arabia while still wanting to explore its ancient soul. Oman has the famous Wahiba Sands, a dune region inhabited by Bedouins. Besides, its port capital, Muscat, is home to the massive contemporary-style Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque and the old seaside neighborhood of Muttrah, with a labyrinthine souk and a bustling but fascinating fish market.

There’s a wide range of opportunities in Oman for any curious traveler. Although, to take advantage of those opportunities, you must take into account the travel documents that the authorities ask you to enter. One of those documents is the Oman Traveler Registration which you can obtain online. You can apply for the Oman Traveler Registration on our website so that you can save a lot of effort and time for your trip.

Planning a trip to Oman shouldn’t be difficult, as it’ll depend on your personal preferences and also the amount of time you’ll be staying there. However, we can help you a little by offering you a brief introduction to some of the best places you can visit in Oman.

Jebel Shams or “Mountain of the Sun” is probably the first spot we have to mention, as it is Oman’s highest mountain. This mountain is famous for its impressive view. It allows you to appreciate the deep Wadi Ghul lying alongside it. The straight-sided Wadi Ghul is known regionally as the Grand Canyon of Arabia, as it fissures abruptly between the smooth canyon edges, exposing vertical cliffs of about 1000m.

Nowadays you can see an iron railing along the coastline that indicates the risk of falling into the abyss. You can also find a couple of well-established hikes on this mountain. The Balcony Walk just below the canyon rim is the most famous.

Another point that must go on your checklist is the Nakhal Fort. Built on the grounds of a pre-Islamic construction, the towers and entrance of Nakhal Fort were created during the reign of Imam Said Bin Sultan in 1834.

Nakhal Fort has many interesting features, including gaps where boiling cauldrons of honey would have been added over doorways. There were also spiked doors to repel battering, round towers to swerve cannonballs, and many more. This fort was built around a rock, and until now it offers an impressive look at Oman’s history to any tourist. As a plus, you can enter well-maintained toilets here in case you need to use one.

We cannot talk about Oman without forgetting Sharqiya Sands. It can be a top-destination in their own right or an interesting spot between Muscat and Sur. These impressive dunes are still locally referred to as the Wahiba Sands, and they’re always an obligatory point for tourists due to the reddish tone of the sands and also the vast extension of them, of course. This place is home to the Bedouin, so it can be a great point for you to know more about nomads’ lifestyle, at least in this part of the globe.

The Wahiba Sands are also an excellent place to talk to Omani women whose Bedouin lifestyle allows them to have a more visible social role. Despite the elaborate clothing of Bedouin, they tend to be excellent drivers and they’re always ready to help you with anything you need.

One last point that we want to recommend to you is Ras Al Jinz. This is the easternmost point of the Arabian Peninsula, and it is also an important turtle-nesting site for the endangered green turtle. Oman has a crucial role to play in the conservation of its endangered species, including the green turtle, which is why its government takes the responsibility seriously, with strict penalties for harming turtles or their eggs. Therefore, we remind you that you can visit this site only by joining an escorted tour as this area is under government protection. You cannot visit it by yourself, only with professional guides. In this place, you can find an interesting museum, a beach with beautiful deep-blue waters, and impressive cliffs.

You can still enjoy other interesting places in Oman like Dhofar, Musandam, and its capital city, Muscat. Nevertheless, you cannot forget to apply for the Oman Traveler Registration before entering the country.

The Oman Traveler Registration is an online document that you can easily obtain through iVisa.com, but remember that you must find out some items and requirements first, including your passport and a negative COVID-19 PCR test performed within 72 hours before you arrive in Oman.

Contrary to a paper visa, the Oman Traveler Registration is easier to get as it only requires completing an application request. If you're unvaccinated, what you should know is that when you arrive in Oman you’ll have to quarantine for at least 7 days at a hotel at your own cost on arrival.

Another thing you have to keep in mind is that you must take another COVID-19 PCR test on day 8 of your quarantine, and if the result is negative, you’ll be ready to finish that quarantine and continue your trip to Oman.

As you can see, getting the Oman Traveler Registration shouldn’t be challenging, especially because it only makes you spend about 15 minutes if not less. It’s not a demanding document, and with our services, you can be sure that it’ll be an easy thing.
