As a Nepalese citizen, whenever you plan to travel to Sri Lanka for business or tourism purposes, you should know that you don't have to get a consular visa.

Since you have a nationality that is eligible for an electronic travel authorization, you have the opportunity to apply for a Sri Lanka visa online. With iVisa, that document can be in your possession in just a few minutes, and we will teach you how in this article.

Sri Lanka

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

I'm a Nepalese Passport Holder, do I need a Sri Lanka e-Visa?

Yes, you require to have a visa to enter Sri Lanka, but this is better known as an ETA. Any foreign country that's not visa-excempt is required to apply for an ETA for a tourist or business visit to Sri Lanka.

How Long can Nepalese Citizens Remain in Sri Lanka?

Visitors from Nepal can stay in Sri Lanka for 30 days in Total. Remember that during this amount of time you shouldn't get paid work or employment, and all visits are limited to tourism, or business if you apply for a business e-Visa.

How many entries can I have with my Nepalese passport?

You're able to have a Double Entry visa. This means you can enter just twice to this country.

What are the requirements for Nepalese citizens?

For a successful application process, you will need the following information and documents:

  • Valid passport – you cannot apply for a Sri Lanka visa unless you are a passport holder. Plus, the visa policy of Sri Lanka requires that the passport maintains its validity for at least another 6 months from the date of arrival.

  • E-mail address – as a result of an online application process, the ETA will arrive via e-mail in PDF format. The address you provide must be valid, and you need to have access to it. Remember to print out the document before departure or make sure that you have a digital copy on your electronic device.

  • Means of payment – as far as paying for services goes, iVisa is flexible. You can make the payment using a credit or a debit card, but you are also free to use PayPal.

What is the price to get a Sri Lanka ETA and How long does it take?

It will depend on the type of visa and how fast you want it. Both choices will affect the cost of your Sri Lanka visa. When it comes to processing time, you have three options:

  • Standard processing – There are many people who prefer this option because it is the cheapest of all. You can get your Sri Lanka ETA in only 3 days, and you only have to pay USD $100.99.
  • Rush processing – for somewhat faster processing, you can choose this option. Your application is processed within 24 hours, and the fee is USD $152.99.
  • Super Rush processing – if you want your ETA as soon as possible, you can choose this option and have your application processed within 12 hours. The fee, however, is USD $225.99.

As far as the visa type is concerned, you also have the option of applying for a Sri Lanka Business ETA if your trip is for business purposes. The fees differ, though. This visa will cost you an additional $13 for each processing time.

How is the application form to get this ETA?

What you have to do after you gather all of the above is to fill in an online application form. That should not be challenging for you, but if it happens to have questions or concerns, do not hesitate to reach iVisa’s customer support. The service is available 24/7 and free of charge.

The application form designed by iVisa consists of three simple steps:

  1. Step number one expects you to provide general information about yourself and your trip, but you are also asked to choose a processing time for your application, as well as a visa type.

  2. The second step wants you to take care of the payment and review your form to make sure it does not contain any mistakes. Failure to revise any possible errors lead to an invalid visa, and you have to repeat the application process for a new ETA.

  3. Lastly, the third step requires you to provide iVisa with a few documents that support your application. You will have to upload them. When all three steps are complete, you can submit your request, and iVisa will take it from there.

What you need to remember from all this is that the online process of obtaining a Sri Lanka Visa for Nepalese citizens involves little effort.

What happens once I finish the application form?

As soon as the application is ready, you'll get the ETA through an e-mail. You don't need to deal with the embassy. We do it for you so you can save a lot of time. Next thing you can do is to print your Tourist ETA and take it with you once you enter Sri Lanka, but this is not extremely necessary since you already have linked your ETA to your passport, it's just a recommendation.

Do I need to get a Tourist e-Visa for my children too?

In case your children are younger than 12 years old, then you don't need to do it. Kids under 12 years old are exempt from paying the ETA.

Can I apply for friends or family members?

You can apply for friends or family. But remember that to do that you have to get in hand all of thei required documents (you can check them above).

If you are applying just for one person, just do it here introducing their personal information. On the contrary, if you need to apply for more than one person, you can do it by clicking on ‘Add new applicant’ in the application form.

How will I realize if my Tourist ETA is approved?

We will let you know by e-mail whenever possible after the Sri Lanka Government approves the visa.
