Frequently Asked Questions / FAQs

I'm Japanese, do I need a visa to go to Sri Lanka?

More than a visa is an ETA, that is a lot simpler to get.

What is a Sri Lanka Tourist ETA?

The Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) is a document that permits you to travel to Sri Lanka for tourism or business purposes. It depends on ETA's form you choose..

How long can I stay in Sri Lanka using an ETA?

With your Tourist ETA, you can remain in Sri Lanka 30 days in Total. If you apply for the Business ETA, you can also remain 60 days in Total.

What are the prerequisites?

Before anything else, you need to make sure you have what iVisa asks of you for the online application procedure. You may have a number of those items. Here is the list:

  • Valid Passport – to get a Sri Lanka ETA, you must obtain a passport that remains valid for at least 6 months from the flying date in Sri Lanka.

  • Digital photo – ensure that the image is as recent as possible and that it reflects all the guidelines to get a passport photograph.

  • Valid e-mail address – iVisa will send you the ETA through e-mail in PDF format, that is why you need to provide a valid e-mail address. Don't forget to print out a physical copy before you depart.

  • Means of payment – through the online process, you will need to make the payment. iVisa permits you to pay with credit or debit cards, but you may use PayPal too.

How long can I use this eVisa?

This Sri Lanka ETA expires 30 days after arrival, and that means it's possible to use it for that period. Nevertheless, don't forget that you can remain in Sri Lanka to get 30 days in Total.

What are the processing times and prices?

Each processing period has a different price. In iVisa you have three choices and you may choose one of them according to your needs. Your choices are the following:

  • Standard processing – this is the most affordable option. Your application is ready in 3 days, and it costs USD $129.99.

  • Rush processing – this time, your Sri Lanka ETA will arrive in only 24 hours, but you'll have to pay USD $177.99.

  • Super Rush processing – it takes 12 hours for your application to be completed. As you can guess, the fee is higher. USD $242.99 being exact.

The fees above apply to the Sri Lanka Tourist ETA. If you would like to acquire a Sri Lanka Business ETA, the prices are different and you may check them on this page.

How can I apply?

Right after you observe that you've got everything you need, you can fill in the application form. You shouldn't find this task difficult, but if you need help, or if you have questions, don't hesitate to contact iVisa’s customer support service. It is accessible 24/7 and free of charge.

You will see that the formulary has three steps when you enter the application page:

  1. The first one is based on personal data, but in addition, you need to make a choice concerning the visa type and the processing time for your application. Both variables will establish how much you'll be billed for your Sri Lanka ETA.

  2. The second part asks for your payment information, but you also have to review the info in your form and make sure it is 100% precise.

  3. Finally, asks you to provide the supporting documents of your own application. Once you complete this section, you need to send your request, and iVisa will take it from here.

How many times can I enter Sri Lanka using a Tourist ETA?

Your ETA provides you a Double Entry. You've got exactly the same amount of entries if you apply for a Business ETA.

Do I need to get separate Tourist ETAs for my kids?

If you want to travel with your kids under 12 years old, your children won't need an ETA.

Can I apply for my family or love ones?

As long as you get their information (or at least the same prerequisites as above), you can complete their application form.

Do I need to print a copy of the Sri Lanka Tourist ETA?

Your ETA is linked to your passport, but we still recomend you to print this confirmation and keep a copy of your ETA together with your passport.
