Frequently asked questions about the Taiwan eVisa

As of 2026, many nationalities (including citizens of the US, UK, EU, Canada, and Australia) enjoy visa-free entry for short stays. However, the eVisa is required for people from:

  • Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman*, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates

  • Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro

  • Dominica, Ecuador, Panama, Peru

  • Mauritius

  • Kiribati, Solomon Islands

  • As of May 2026, Omani citizens have a 14-day visa-exempt trial, but must still apply for an eVisa if they plan to stay between 15 and 30 days.

  • Colombia: Must also hold a valid visa or residence permit from a Schengen country or the United States (valid for >180 days).

For the current period (ending March 31, 2027), nationals of these countries are eligible only if they hold a valid visa or resident certificate from a Schengen country or the United States:

  • Armenia

  • Kazakhstan

  • Uzbekistan

  • Business travelers or event attendees: If you have been issued an "E-code" by a Taiwanese host organization.

If you are from a country not covered by the eVisa program, you must apply for a traditional sticker visa at a diplomatic mission.

If you remain in the airport transit area and do not pass through immigration, you generally do not need a visa.

However, if your transit time is long and you wish to leave the airport or stay in a hotel outside the transit zone, you must obtain a valid eVisa or transit visa.

You will receive your approved Taiwan eVisa as a PDF document via email. It will display your reference number and personal details. You must print a physical copy of this document to present to the immigration officer at the border. Digital copies on phones or tablets may not be accepted by all airlines or border officials.

If you applied through iVisa, you can also find a copy of your approval PDF in your dashboard.

The Taiwan Tourist eVisa typically allows for a stay of up to 30 days from the date of entry. The visa itself is valid for 90 days from the date of issue, meaning you must enter Taiwan within that 90-day window.

It is a single-entry visa; once you leave Taiwan, the visa becomes invalid regardless of how many days you stayed.

No. The Taiwan eVisa cannot be extended or converted into any other type of visa.

The standard government processing time is approximately 3 to 5 business days. However, during peak travel seasons or holidays, it can take longer.

By using iVisa’s expedited services, we prioritize your application to ensure it is processed as quickly as possible, often providing updates within 48 to 72 hours.

Yes. Every traveler, including infants and children, must have their own individual eVisa.

You can use iVisa’s "Add another person" feature to easily manage applications for the whole family in one session, saving time and effort.

The most common reason for rejection is mismatched passport details. If rejected, the government fee is non-refundable. iVisa minimizes this risk by having experts review your application for common errors and document clarity before it ever reaches the government.
