From$99.99

Who it's for
Travelers who need permission to enter Tajikistan, including nationalities that are otherwise visa-free but want to stay longer than the visa-free window allows. Every traveler needs their own e-Visa, minors included.
Permitted activities
Tourism, and attending sporting or cultural events. These are the only purposes the official application offers, so work, study and residence run through a different route entirely.
Entry points
All Tajik border points accept the e-Visa, by air and by land. You do not need one to stay inside the international transit area of an airport.
Delivery format
A PDF e-Visa reaches you by email and by download link. Carry it on your phone or printed, since officers verify it against their own system at the border.
Good to know
Your e-Visa runs from the start date you choose, and arriving before that date means applying again. Your passport needs validity beyond the e-Visa, and any mismatch between the two voids it.
Validity
Valid for 90 days

Tajikistan visa FAQs

Quick answers to the most common questions about the Tajikistan eVisa.

Still have questions?

Our visa experts are available 24/7 on chat, email, and WhatsApp.

Do I need a Tajikistan visa?

Most nationalities require a visa to enter Tajikistan. While some citizens are eligible for visa-free entry (usually for up to 30 days), many travelers find the 60-day eVisa more convenient for longer stays or for trips requiring the GBAO permit. Citizens of some CIS countries (like Russia and Belarus) enjoy indefinite visa-free access. Use our visa checker to see the specific rules for your nationality.

How will I receive the Tajikistan eVisa?

You will receive your approved eVisa as a PDF document via email. You must print a physical copy to show to border officials. Digital copies on phones are often not accepted at land border crossings. You can also find a digital copy in your iVisa dashboard if applied through us.

What is the GBAO permit and do I need it?

The Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region (GBAO) covers the eastern part of the country, including the Pamir Highway. This is a sensitive border zone. If you plan to travel anywhere in this region, for example, for hiking, you must have a GBAO permit. You can easily select this online through iVisa during the application process.

How long can I stay in Tajikistan with an eVisa?

The eVisa allows for a maximum stay of 60 days. It is valid for use within a 90-day window starting from your specified 'Expected Entry Date' during the eVisa application. You must exit the country before the 90-day validity period expires, regardless of whether you have used all 60 stay days.

Can I extend my stay in Tajikistan?

The eVisa itself cannot be extended. If you wish to stay longer than 60 days, you must leave the country and apply for a new visa, or enter on a different visa type (such as a work or investment visa) which requires sponsorship and a visit to the Department of Visas and Registration (OVIR) in Dushanbe.

Do I need to register with the police (OVIR)?

If you enter Tajikistan on an eVisa, you are exempt from the mandatory registration with OVIR for the duration of your visa (up to 60 days). The fee is included in the eVisa fee paid online. However, travelers entering visa-free for more than 10 days generally must register at a local OVIR office within 10 days of arrival.

How long does Tajikistan eVisa processing take?

The official government processing time is typically 1 to 3 business days, though it can sometimes take up to 5 days during peak seasons. With iVisa, you can get your Tajikistan eVisa in as fast as 2 days.

Do children/minors need a Tajikistan eVisa?

Yes, every traveler, including infants and minors, must have their own individual eVisa and a valid passport. iVisa makes it easy to apply for the whole family in one go by using the 'Add another person' feature during the application.

What happens if I overstay my Tajikistan visa?

Overstaying is taken very seriously in Tajikistan. You will likely face significant fines (starting at approximately 600 USD), potential deportation, and a multi-year ban from re-entering the country.

What happens if my Tajikistan eVisa application is denied?

The most common reason for denial is unclear passport scans or blurry photos. At iVisa, we help you avoid this issue with our passport upload tool and expert review, ensuring your scan meets the government requirements the first time. iVisa also offers optional denial protection.

Why travelers choose iVisa

On your own

  • The official portal is published in English and Tajik only.
  • The government voids an e-Visa whose data does not match the passport, and no corrections are possible once it is approved.
  • The consular fee is not refunded in any case, including a denial or a duplicate payment, so an error means paying again.
  • Card payments in US dollars only, and the official FAQ documents interrupted transactions, timeouts and card verification failures.
  • A contact form and a single email address, with no phone, no chat and no stated response time.
  • A guided application in your own language, with each question explained as you go.
  • We check your details against your passport before your application is submitted.
  • We review your application first, and our team stays with you if the government comes back with questions.
  • More ways to pay, and real people to talk to if a payment does not go through.
  • Human support around the clock by chat, email and phone.
