Indian visa policy for Azerbaijani citizens

Azerbaijan citizens need a visa to visit India. Azerbaijan passport holders are eligible to apply for Indian eVisas for short-term travel such as tourism, business, or medical treatment. In addition, they must complete the e-Arrival Card, a digital immigration and customs form.

iVisa offers four entry documents for Azerbaijan travelers:

  • India Tourist eVisa: A mandatory electronic visa for Azerbaijan citizens traveling to India for tourism. Options include a 30-day double-entry visa or longer-term multiple-entry visas (1-year or 5-year), with stays typically limited to 180 days per visit.

  • India Business eVisa: an electronic visa for Azerbaijan travelers visiting India for business activities such as meetings, conferences, or trade purposes.

  • India Medical eVisa: an electronic visa for Azerbaijan citizens traveling to India for medical treatment at recognized healthcare facilities.

  • India e-Arrival Card: A mandatory digital form that must be completed online within 72 hours before arrival. After submission, travelers receive a QR code for inspection at immigration.

General India visa requirements for Azerbaijan travelers are:

  • An Azerbaijan passport valid for at least six months beyond the intended stay
  • Passport-style photo (if required)
  • Confirmed onward or return travel ticket
  • Proof of accommodation and travel itinerary
  • Supporting documents depending on visa type (business invitation letter of hospital letter)

FAQs

Yes. Besides India’s eVisa for tourism, medical, and business purposes, travelers from Azerbaijan can access various travel documents. These cover a wide range of travel motivations, from attending conferences to studying in the country. Always ensure the visa type corresponds to the reason for travel.

In addition, Azerbaijan travelers must complete the India Arrival Card.

The total stay depends on your visa. With the eVisa, Azerbaijan travelers may choose between a 30-day, 1-year, or 5-year option. The maximum duration of stay for the 1- and 5-year options is 6 months per entry.

Government eVisa processing for Azerbaijan citizens usually takes around 3–5 working days, depending on the visa type and application volume. With iVisa, Azerbaijan citizens can get their Indian eVisa in as fast as 3 days.

No, a tourist visa does not allow you to work in India, including as a volunteer. If you wish to work while you're in the country, you must apply for a suitable work visa.

While a return ticket is not required, you must show that you intend to leave India before your visa expires. Typically, this would be a return of an onward ticket.

While not required by law, travelers to India should consider several vaccinations and health precautions. These include routine vaccinations like diphtheria, tetanus, and pertussis, as well as polio, and those recommended explicitly for India, such as Hepatitis A, Typhoid, and potentially Japanese encephalitis or Rabies.

No. The Indian eVisa is valid only for entry at designated airports and seaports. Land border crossings may require a regular visa.

Yes, children require an India Tourist eVisa just as adults do. The application process is the same for minors, and they must have a visa to enter India regardless of their age.

When applying for a visa for a minor, legal guardians need to provide additional documents:

  • A copy of the minor’s birth certificate.
  • Copies of the passports of the child's parents or legal guardians.
  • A consent letter signed by both parents or legal guardians, which authorizes the child's travel to India.
  • Validity: The date from which your visa is valid and for how long.
  • Stay limit: The number of days you can stay once you enter the country.
  • E.g., if your visa expiry date is May 1, 2024, you have until that day to enter the country.

Once there, the validity tells you how many days you can spend in the country. E.g. You arrive on May 1, 2024, and your visa validity is 30 days. In this case, you can stay until 30 May 2024.

Generally, the India Tourist eVisa cannot be extended, and tourists are expected to adhere to the validity period specified on their eVisa.

If you need to stay longer than the terms of your original visa due to exceptional circumstances, you must apply through the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) of the Foreigners Registration Office (FRO) in India.

    • Incomplete application of missing documents
    • Poor quality photo of passport scan
    • Providing incorrect travel details
    • Applying too close to the travel date without processing time

Yes, the Indian eVisa does not guarantee entry into India, and border authorities may refuse travelers entry.
