What activities are permitted on an e-Business Visa?

You visit India with the Business eVisa to:

Establish industrial/business ventures, manufacture, or trade, including joint ventures
Attend board meetings, general meetings, or explore business opportunities
Buy or sell industrial products, commercial goods, or services
Hire or work (not employed by an Indian company) as a technical expert to provide advice, training, or technical support
Hire manpower/personnel for business operations

You are not allowed to work in India (for an employer in India) with a business visa; that requires an Employment Visa.

How will I receive the India Business eVisa?

Once approved, your eVisa will be sent to your email. While it is digitally linked to your passport, Indian law requires you to carry a physical printout for verification by immigration officers and hotels.

If you’ve applied through iVisa, you can find a copy of your visa and e-Arrival card QR code in your dashboard.

How long can I stay in India with a Business eVisa?

The e-Business Visa allows for multiple entries over one year. However, you are restricted to a maximum of 180 days total stay within a single calendar year.

Do I need an Arrival Card for India if I have an eVisa?

Yes, you must complete a mandatory digital e-Arrival Card before your trip. The old paper disembarkation forms have been phased out, the new digital version is a strict requirement for all foreign passport holders (including e-Visa and OCI holders).

You must fill this out within 72 hours of your scheduled arrival in India. After submission, you will receive a QR code which you must present (digital or printed) at the airline boarding gate and to immigration officers upon arrival.

Note: You can apply for both the eVisa and Arrival card at the same time through iVisa. It is separate from your e-Visa and does not replace it. Indian citizens are exempt.

As of early 2026, the list of designated entry points for India eVisas has expanded to 51 gateways, including Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Kochi, Goa, and Jaipur.
