Singapore visa requirements for Chinese citizens

Chinese citizens don't need a visa to travel to Singapore for short stays of up to 30 days. Even though no visa is required, all Chinese travelers must complete the Singapore Arrival Card (SG Arrival Card). This is a mandatory online entry declaration and does not replace a visa for nationalities that require one.

Singapore Arrival Card (SG Arrival Card): A mandatory online arrival declaration that Chinese citizens must submit within 3 days before arrival. After entry, travelers receive an Electronic Visit Pass (e-Pass) by email showing the permitted length of stay.

  • Very easy at gate. NOTE HOWEVER as you enter Singapore immediately before the gate , a huge sign indicates that all entrants (including Singapore citizens) must fill in the entry form. We started doing this not knowing that we were simply duplication the i-visa we had completed on line. The notice was misleading - we could have gone straight through (which we eventually did).

  • iVisa was an easy online process but took a little extra time than the 24 hour standard process so would recommend taking this into account.

  • The link via their website was easy to follow. We filled in while awaiting departure for Singapore. We probably should have done it earlier but we had no issues.

  • It was a bit pricey compared to doing it yourself, which would not cost much. However, the process can be quite time-consuming. I used this service because I needed urgent entry approval for Singapore. I submitted my application while on the plane, and by the time I arrived at the airport, it had already been approved. No complaints at all. The service was fast, efficient, and reliable.

  • Some items are not clearly explained , they are confusing and prone to causing misunderstandings. for example, during the validity period of the arrival card, can transit passengers holding passport from visa-free countries to enter and exit the airport multiple times.

Still have questions?

Our visa experts are available 24/7 on chat, email, and WhatsApp.

Do Chinese citizens need a visa to enter Singapore?

No, not for up to 30 days. However, they must have completed the SG Arrival Card.

What is the maximum stay that Chinese citizens can receive in Singapore?

Chinese citizens are usually granted a short-term Visit Pass of up to 14 or 30 days, depending on individual circumstances and immigration assessment. The exact duration is stated on the electronic Visit Pass (e-Pass) issued after entry.

What is the SG Arrival Card, and is it mandatory for Chinese travelers?

Yes. All Chinese citizens must submit the SG Arrival Card online within 3 days before arrival. This is not a visa, but a mandatory entry declaration that includes health and travel information. Failure to submit it may delay immigration clearance.

How does e-Pass issuance work for Chinese citizens entering Singapore?

Singapore no longer issues physical passport stamps. After clearing immigration, Chinese travelers receive an electronic Visit Pass (e-Pass) by email, which shows their permitted length of stay. It is recommended to save a printout of this e-Pass for reference during your stay.

Can Chinese citizens extend their stay in Singapore?

In some cases, Chinese visitors may apply to the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) for an extension of their short-term Visit Pass before it expires. Extensions are not guaranteed and depend on travel history, purpose of stay, and compliance with entry conditions.

What is the processing time of an SG Arrival Card for Chinese citizens?

Your SG Arrival Card is typically processed on the same day.
