Can I stay longer than 30 days, or work or study, in Thailand on a Chinese passport?

A Tourist (TR) visa allows up to 60 days per entry and is applied for through Thailand's official e-Visa system. Your visa-exempt stays also can't add up to more than 90 days in any 180.
Which Thai embassy or consulate in China handles my visa application?
It depends on where your passport was issued, and you must be physically in China when you apply. The Royal Thai Embassy in Beijing's guide sends Guangdong and Hainan passports to Guangzhou, and Sichuan and Chongqing passports to Chengdu. Shanghai, Xi'an, Kunming, Xiamen, Nanning and Qingdao have Thai consulates-general too.
I'm a Chinese citizen living in Hong Kong. What extra documents does the Thai consulate there ask for?
The Royal Thai Consulate-General in Hong Kong places China among its Group A nationalities. Group A visa applicants add fully paid flight tickets into and out of Thailand and prepaid accommodation for the whole stay. They also need a letter from their employer or institution. The consulate only takes applications from legal residents of Hong Kong or Macao, not visitors.
