However, once the new travel authorization system is operational, Canadian travelers will need to obtain an ETIAS authorization before entering Spain or any other Schengen Area country. The system is currently expected to be fully implemented by the end of 2026.

General Spain entry requirements for Canadian travelers are:

Proof of accommodation (hotel reservation or invitation letter)
Evidence of sufficient funds for the duration of the stay
Travel insurance covering at least €30,000 in medical and repatriation costs
