- Who it's for
- Travelers whose nationality is not on Uganda's visa-exempt list, which covers most major markets. Every traveler needs their own application, minors included.
- Permitted activities
- Tourism, visiting family, medical treatment, conferences and meetings, and short study visits. Employment is not permitted.
- Entry points
- Entebbe International Airport and Uganda's gazetted land borders. You choose your point of entry inside the application.
- Delivery format
- An approval letter with a barcode arrives by email. It is not the visa itself: the visa is placed in your passport at the border after your biometrics are captured, and the officer there makes the final decision.
- Good to know
- The approval letter expires if you do not travel inside its window, and you would have to apply again. It is single entry, so a side trip to Kenya or Rwanda needs a new visa or the East Africa Tourist Visa.

- Single entry
- Length of stay
- Stay up to 90 days in total

The directions were easy to follow (except the group code thing???) which I ended up not having one for my Safari group. I LOVE that you can easily track what is going on either on the computer or on the phone APP. You can also access your Visa via the app or print it out. I like that you can pay a bit extra and have it rushed. (although that didn't work with my Tanzanian visa :-( I hope it gets here before I leave and I get the extra money I paid to rush it back) OVERALL, I LOVE getting my visa through iVisa...it is a very simplified process, easy to do, easy to follow, good customer service.

Still have questions?
Our visa experts are available 24/7 on chat, email, and WhatsApp.
Do I need a visa for Uganda?
Most international travelers, including those from the US, UK, and EU, require a visa. However, as of 2026, citizens of 40 countries—including Ireland, UAE, and several Commonwealth nations—enjoy visa-free entry for up to three months. Uganda no longer issues standard visas on arrival. You must have your approval letter before you travel.
How will I receive the Uganda Tourist eVisa?
Once approved, you will receive an Approval Letter via email as a PDF. You must print this letter and carry it with you. At Entebbe International Airport or land borders, the immigration officer will scan the barcode on your letter, capture your biometrics, and place the actual visa sticker in your passport.
Is the Yellow Fever certificate mandatory for the Uganda eVisa?
Yes. Uganda strictly enforces Yellow Fever vaccination for all travelers. You must upload a copy of your International Certificate of Vaccination during the application and present the physical 'Yellow Card' upon arrival. Failure to do so can result in denied entry or a mandatory vaccination at the airport at your own expense.
How long can I stay in Uganda with an eVisa?
The standard Uganda Tourist eVisa allows for a stay of up to 90 days. If you wish to stay longer, you can apply for an extension of up to 60 days via the official e-immigration portal while you are still in the country.
What is the processing time of the Uganda Tourist eVisa?
Official government processing typically takes 2 to 7 days. We recommend applying at least 14 days before your trip. With iVisa, you can get your Uganda Tourist eVisa in as fast as 2 days.
Can I use the Uganda Tourist eVisa for business trips?
The single-entry Tourist Visa is primarily for tourism and family visits. If you are a frequent business traveler, you may want to apply for a Multiple Entry Visa, which is available for 6, 12, or 24 months for an additional fee.
Do children/minors need a Uganda eVisa?
Yes. Every traveler, including infants, must have their own visa unless they are from a visa-exempt country. Parents can manage applications for the whole family through iVisa using the 'Add another person' feature.
What happens if my Uganda eVisa application is denied?
Denials are usually due to blurry passport scans or missing health documents. If your application is rejected, you will need to submit a new one with corrected information. iVisa's expert review helps prevent these errors, and we offer denial protection for added peace of mind.
Can I use this visa for Kenya and Rwanda too?
The standard Uganda Tourist eVisa is only for Uganda. However, if you plan to visit Kenya and Rwanda as well, you can apply for the East African Tourist Visa through our platform. This 90-day multiple-entry visa allows you to travel between the three countries freely for $100.
