Get the United Kingdom visa for Norwegian citizens

Norwegian citizens do not currently need a visa to visit the UK for short stays of up to six months for tourism, business, or short-term study. However, all travelers from Norway must obtain a UK Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) before entering the country.

Norwegian travelers need one UK entry document:

• UK ETA: A mandatory digital travel permission for visa-exempt nationals. It allows Norwegian citizens to enter the UK for stays of up to six months at a time. It’s valid for two years (or until the passport expires), and is electronically linked to the traveler’s passport.

General UK entry requirements for Norwegian travelers are:

• Norwegian biometric passport valid for at least six months beyond the intended departure date (national ID cards are only accepted for those with settled/pre-settled status)
• Approved UK ETA status
• Evidence of a return or onward ticket
• Proof of sufficient financial means for the duration of the trip
• Details of intended accommodation or host address in the UK
• Other supporting documents, depending on purpose/situation (e.g., business contact details or conference invitation)
