Belize is a small country located on the east coast of Central America with shores in the Caribbean Sea towards its eastern limit and a dense and deep jungle to the west limit. This country is famous for having the huge Barrier Reef of Belize, with hundreds of low islands called cays, as well as being home to an abundant marine fauna. In the jungle area of Belize you can find Mayan ruins like El Caracol (the Snail), famous for its elevated pyramid; Lamanai, next to a lagoon; and Altún Ha, which is very close to the capital Belize City.

This country has everything you need to practice different types of activities that we’ll explain in this article, but first, remember that it is very likely that you’ll need the Belize Health Declaration Form to enter. This document is mandatory for many nationalities, so we recommend making sure you have it before planning your trip.

As for the type of activities that you can take advantage of in this country, there are a great variety, especially those focused on making the most of nature. A good example of this is Scuba Diving since divers from all over the world travel to Belize for a diving experience unlike anywhere else. This is an exciting sport to practice here because Belize is home to the largest barrier reef in the Northern Hemisphere. Three of the four coral atolls in the Western site, and many divers, including newly certified, come here to enjoy the nature in Belize’s waters.

Scuba diving is very prosperous in Belize because this country has some of the best waters in the world. Belize’s beaches have crystal clear waters and visibility routinely extending hundreds of feet, meaning that you’ll always get the best view and diving experience. Besides, in this region, you can enter the Great Blue Hole, one of the greatest geological wonders of the world. Apart from this famous spot, you can also enjoy other sites to dive in like Hol Chan Marine Reserve, Ambergris Caye, and dozens more, plus, they’re listed as some of the best destinations for divers in the world.

Another type of activity you can try in Belize is snorkeling. Even if you haven’t snorkeled before, you can try it out in Belize thanks to the experienced local guides that will help you get ready for it and therefore get to know the wonders in the crystal clear beaches. You’ll be able to see hard and soft corals, many sponges, and more than 500 species of marine wildlife.

These are probably the most important activities you can try in Belize, but you can also relax and explore some of the most tourist spots in the country, beginning with Belice City, the capital city. This port city stands out for its north and south division thanks to the passage of the Haulover Creek River, which flows into the Caribbean Sea. Additionally, it has a swing bridge from the 1920s, which is operated manually and is a busy crossing point that links both sides of the city. On the north side, you can tour the Museum of Belize to learn more about the country's history, especially since it has daily exhibits that include Mayan artifacts. The Image Factory gallery showcases local contemporary art, in case you prefer something more modern. One place that always draws the attention of travelers is Lamanai and it is no wonder for all the curiosities it has. You can reach this point with a boat, especially if you prefer a more traditional experience. On your boat ride, in addition to some amazing scenery, you’ll see wildlife like snail kites, Morelet’s crocodile, jacana, and iguanas.

Lamanai is the area with the longest history of human occupancy in Belize. This town was settled around 900 B.C and was still occupied two and a half thousand years later when the Spanish arrived in 1544. Lamanai sits on the bank of the 30-mile-long New River Lagoon in the Orange Walk District. It has an impressive architecture of temples and palaces that date back from the Classic periods. Plus, you can find this spot in a tropical forest, which makes it more exotic and enjoyable if you love nature.

Lastly, another point we recommend you to visit in Belize is the Mountain Pine Ridge Forest Reserve, which offers cool temperatures and reveals amazing natural monuments. This reserve has 300,000 acres of protected pine forests, and by exploring it deeply you’ll be able to see the largest fall of Belize and the Central American region, as well as other things like the cave Rio Frio.

You need a few things to start your adventure in Belize if you’re really into nature and crystal clear beaches. However, keep in mind that depending on your nationality you might need a visa and that nowadays all foreign travelers must apply for the Belize Health Declaration Form to get a valid entry.

The Belize Health Declaration Form is available through an online application form which takes you only a few minutes to complete. Plus, it is easier to get it by completing the form we offer on our website. This way, you can only focus on planning your luggage, without having to worry about travel papers.

Another thing you should take into account about the Belize Health Declaration Form is that it asks you to add some extra documents so that you can have an approved entry. Some of these documents are obligatory while the coronavirus outbreak is still around. For example, the negative COVID-19 RT-PCR test, which should be taken within 96 hours before arrival in Belize. You also have the option of taking one of these tests upon arrival, but remember that it’ll have an extra price in that case so you’ll have to get the cash ready for it.

The rest of the things necessary to enter Belize aren’t complicated, especially the passport as this is a mandatory document to travel anywhere abroad. Just remember that it must be valid once you arrive there, and it should remain valid for the amount of time you’re staying in Belize.
