Namibian visa policy for German citizens

Swiss citizens don’t currently need a visa to visit Sri Lanka for short stays of up to 30 days for tourism or business. Swiss travelers need one Sri Lanka entry document: Sri Lanka ETA: A mandatory Electronic Travel Authorization that must be secured at least 3 days before arrival. This is issued for 30-day stays and allows double entry within that period. General Sri Lanka entry requirements for Swiss travelers are: Swiss passport valid for at least six months beyond the intended departure date Confirmed return or onward flight ticket Evidence of sufficient financial funds for the duration of the stay Proof of accommodation (hotel reservation or host address) * Other supporting documents, depending on purpose/situation (e.g., business invitation letter)

Frequently asked questions about getting the Namibia visa with a Germany passport

Yes. If your stay in Sri Lanka is less than 48 hours, you must apply for a Transit ETA. This specific authorization allows for a single entry into the country, provided you have a confirmed onward flight ticket to a third destination and a valid visa for that country (if required).

Yes. As of early 2026, Sri Lanka continues to offer Visa on Arrival services at Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA). However, the VoA fee is typically higher than the online ETA, and you may face significant wait times at the border. It’s strongly recommended to secure your ETA at least three days before your trip.

The standard tourist ETA is valid for 30 days and allows for double entry within that period. If you wish to stay longer, you must apply for an extension at the Department of Immigration and Emigration in Colombo. You can extend your stay for up to six months total, though you’ll be required to pay an additional extension fee.

Yes. Every traveler, regardless of age, must have an individual approved ETA to enter Sri Lanka. While the processing fee is waived for children under the age of 12, you must still complete the online application for them and receive a separate approval confirmation.

The standard 30-day ETA for Swiss citizens allows you to enter Sri Lanka twice. If you leave the country to visit a neighboring destination (like the Maldives) and return within 30 days of your initial arrival date, you don't need to apply for a new ETA. The 30-day validity period starts from the date of your first entry and isn't paused while you're outside the country.
