Nigeria ED Card: A mandatory digital arrival form that must be completed at least 72 hours before arrival. This system replaced paper forms in early 2026. You must present the generated QR code to immigration officers to clear border control.

How do UK citizens apply for a Nigeria eVisa?

What is the digital Landing Card?
As of early 2026, Nigeria has completely replaced paper arrival forms with the digital Landing Card. All travelers must register within 72 hours before arrival. After submitting your travel and health details, you'll receive a QR code. This code is mandatory for immigration clearance at all international airports, and you'll likely be asked for it before boarding your flight in the UK.
How long can I stay in Nigeria on a tourist eVisa?
A standard tourist eVisa allows for a maximum stay of 90 days per visit. While some visas are valid for multiple entries over 6 or 12 months, you're generally restricted to a total of 180 days within a single calendar year. If you intend to stay longer than 90 days in one trip, you cannot use an eVisa and must apply for a specific long-term visa at a Nigerian Mission (like the OIS centers in London, Leicester, or Fleet) before you travel.
Is a yellow fever certificate required for my visa entry to be valid?
Yes. While the eVisa is your legal permission to enter, your entry is contingent on health requirements. An International certificate of vaccination for yellow fever is mandatory for all travelers to Nigeria. Immigration and health officials at the border will check for this certificate alongside your eVisa and Landing Card. Failure to produce a valid certificate can result in a denial of entry or mandatory vaccination at the airport.
Can I work in Nigeria if I have a valid business eVisa?
No. A business eVisa only permits non-remunerative activities such as attending meetings, conferences, or negotiations. You cannot legally take up employment, provide consultancy for a fee, or engage in any hands-on work. If your visit involves technical work (e.g., machine repair or project management), you must apply for a Temporary Work Permit (TWP) eVisa, which requires approval from the Comptroller General of Immigration in Abuja before you travel.
