Do Vietnamese citizens need a Mexico Visa?

Yes, Vietnamese citizens planning to visit Mexico for tourism, business, or transit purposes must have a visa before entering the country.

You don’t need to apply for a Mexican visa if you meet one of the following conditions:

1. You hold a valid multiple-entry visa from Canada, the USA, Japan, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, or any of the countries in the Schengen Area.

2. You’re a permanent resident of Canada, the USA, Japan, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Japan, a Schengen member state, or any member country of the Pacific Alliance (Chile, Colombia, and Peru).

3. You’re entering Mexico via a cruise ship.

The visa or residence permit, along with your passport, must remain valid for the duration of your stay in Mexico, which should not be more than 180 days.

If you don't meet the above conditions, you must apply for a sticker visa at the Embassy of Mexico in Vietnam, located in Hanoi.

Mexico Visa requirements for Vietnamese citizens

To start the online application process, you need first to check if you have everything you need. Here is what you must have at hand:

• A passport that’s valid for at least six months from the intended date of entry into Mexico.

• A recent color passport photo with a white background.

You’ll need to provide additional documents to support your application. This can be one of the following:

• Proof of ties to Vietnam, like a property deed or an employment contract (both of these should not be less than two years old).

• Proof that you can financially support yourself during your stay in Mexico, like bank statements or payslips from the last 3 months.

How to apply for a Mexico Visa from Vietnam

To get a Mexico Visa from Vietnam, follow these steps:

1. Book a visa appointment by going to the Mi Consulado portal and creating an account (if you don’t already have one). Choose the most suitable time. Once you’ve successfully scheduled your appointment, you’ll receive a confirmation letter for the embassy visit.

2. Gather all the required documents. The list of documents can be found on the Embassy of Mexico in Vietnam website.

3. On your appointment day, bring the required documents, the completed application form, and the appointment confirmation letter to the Mexican embassy.

4. Wait for your visa application to be processed. If approved, your passport will have the Mexico visa affixed to it when you pick it up.

Are you entering Mexico by land?

If you’re entering Mexico by land, you’ll also need a Mexico Tourist Card (Forma Migratoria Múltiple or FMM). This is not a visa but an entry immigration form that collects information about your visit to Mexico. It’s mandatory for all foreigners, including those who are visa-exempt.
