Differences between the Netherlands Schengen Visa and ETIAS

The European Travel Information and Authorization System (ETIAS) is an impending travel authorization set for implementation by 2025.

ETIAS represents an emergent system for travel authorization aimed at bolstering security across Europe. Its chief purpose is to evaluate whether travelers exempt from visas intending to visit the European Union and Schengen Zone present any security threats to the area.

Echoing the United States' ESTA system, ETIAS targets individuals who qualify for visa-free entry and don’t require a Schengen Visa. Upon the activation of ETIAS, eligible visitors will have the ability to submit their applications online.
