Do I need a Thailand visa?

Citizens of 93 countries, including the US, UK, Canada, Australia, and most of the EU, can currently enter Thailand visa-free for up to 60 days.

However, if you are not from an exempt country, or if you want to secure your entry for a longer stay before you fly, the Thailand Tourist eVisa is required. As of May 2026, the government is reviewing a proposal to reduce the visa-exempt stay back to 30 days, making the eVisa a safer option for longer trips.

How will I receive the Thailand Tourist eVisa?

Thailand uses a stickerless digital system. Once approved, you will receive a PDF document via email. You should print this document and keep a digital copy on your mobile device to show at the immigration counter upon arrival.

How long can I stay in Thailand with an eVisa?

The standard Tourist eVisa allows a stay of up to 60 days per entry. If you choose a multiple-entry visa, it is typically valid for 6 months, allowing you to enter as many times as you like, with each stay capped at 60 days.

Can I extend my stay in Thailand?

Yes. You can apply for a 30-day extension at any local Thai Immigration Office (such as Chaeng Watthana in Bangkok) for a fee of 1,900 THB. This allows a total stay of up to 90 days on a single entry.

How long does Thailand Tourist eVisa processing take?

Do children/minors need a Thailand Tourist eVisa?

What happens if I overstay my Thailand visa?

Overstaying is a serious offense. The fine is 500 THB per day, up to a maximum of 20,000 THB. Long-term overstays (more than 90 days) can result in being banned from re-entering Thailand for 1 to 10 years.
