The Vietnam eVisa is now available for those traveling by air or over land, and cruise passengers. However, the Vietnam Immigration Department determined specific entry points for foreign citizens.

Eligibility requirements for getting the Vietnam eVisa

For travelers seeking to visit Vietnam, the eVisa is a convenient option. Here are the general eligibility criteria for getting a Vietnam eVisa:

  • Purpose of visit: The eVisa is typically issued for tourism, business, visiting relatives, or other short-term stays. Make sure your purpose of visit aligns with the allowed activities on an eVisa.

  • Passport validity: Your passport must be valid for at least six months beyond your arrival date in Vietnam. It should also have at least two blank pages for stamping by the Immigration Officer.

  • Previous visits: Ensure you haven’t violated any immigration or criminal laws during your previous Vietnam stay. A clean record is essential for approval.

Do children/minors need the Vietnam eVisa?

Children under 14 years of age listed on their parents' passports may apply jointly with them. However, all other minors require an individual visa to enter Vietnam.

Conveniently, when applying through iVisa as a family, simply select "Add Another Person" during the application process.

How long can I stay in Vietnam with the eVisa?

We offer two types of Vietnam eVisas:

  • Single-entry Vietnam eVisa: Valid for one entry into Vietnam and stays up to 90 days Per Entry.

  • Multiple-entry Vietnam eVisa: Valid for multiple entries into Vietnam and stays up to 90 days after arrival. You can enter and leave the country as often as you wish within the 90-day validity.

Vietnam eVisa requirements and documentation

To apply online for the Vietnam eVisa, make sure you meet the following application requirements:

  • Your valid passport: Make sure it is valid for 6 months from your intended arrival date and has two blank pages for entry and exit stamps.

  • Two recent passport photos. Check the requirements below.

  • Valid email address: To receive your eVisa confirmation.

  • Payment method: PayPal, Venmo, Amazon Pay, or credit or debit card to pay the visa fees securely online.

Photo requirements

The applicant's passport photos must meet the following requirements:

  • The photo size should be 4×6 cm (Vietnamese photography standard size) or 2×2 inches.

  • It must be taken within the last six months.

  • It must capture your entire face, viewed directly against a bright, solid background.

  • Hats or head scarves can only be worn for religious purposes.

  • Black or over-the-counter glasses with tinted lenses aren't accepted unless requested for medical reasons.

  • Don't smile or laugh in the photo. Keep a neutral facial expression.

How to apply for the Vietnam eVisa online

Vietnam eVisa costs and processing times

There is a USD $25.00 government fee for the single-entry Vietnam eVisa and a US$50 government fee for the multiple-entry Vietnam eVisa. We include this e-visa fee in our total price so you can conveniently pay the total in one go.

Do I require the Vietnam eVisa for transit?

No, travelers not planning to leave the airport and not staying more than 24 hours don't need to apply for a Vietnam eVisa.

If you’re staying longer or leaving the airport, you must have a tourist visa if you’re from an eligible country.

Entry requirements or restrictions to visit and exit Vietnam

The travel restrictions related to COVID-19 have been lifted for international travelers.

Another thing to look out for when entering Vietnam is making sure your passport gets stamped, as some travelers mentioned, this is sometimes forgotten and can cause issues upon departure.

While not mandatory, it’s always wise to have travel/medical insurance that covers emergencies in Vietnam.

Important Instructions

  • We offer the Single Entry and Multiple Entry Vietnam eVisa.

  • The Single Entry e-Visa is valid for 30 days in Total from the proposed date of entry indicated during the application.

  • With this eVisa you can remain in the country for up to 30 days in Total.

  • The Multiple Entry e-Visa is valid for 90 days in Total from the proposed date of entry indicated during the application.

  • With this eVisa you can remain in the country for up to 90 days in Total.

  • After the eVisa validity has passed e-Visa holders in Vietnam may be considered for a new visa if they are invited/sponsored by an authority, organization or individual in Vietnam, in accordance with the law on foreigners' entry into, exit from, transit through and residence in Vietnam.

  • The applicant’s passport needs to be at least 6 months valid after arrival in Vietnam and with at least two blank pages for a stamp/sticker from the immigration/border control officer.

  • Minors with their own passport must complete a full e-Visa application. Minors aged 14 and under included on their parents’ passports will have to be included on their parents' e-Visa application.

  • Applicants are required to carry a copy of their e-Visa at all times during their stay.

You pay the service and government fees to have the e-Visa issued. Once you have an approved visa, you won’t be refunded if you do not use it.
You need to enter Vietnam during your eVisa validity. You cannot enter the country before or after the period specified in your e-Visa.
You can’t apply for a Vietnam eVisa with an expired passport. The visa expiry date must be at least 30 days before your passport expiry date, according to Vietnam Law.
