Is the online ED Card mandatory if Canadians are visa-exempt?
Yes. The Embarkation-Disembarkation (ED) Card is a separate, mandatory border-clearance document required for all incoming travelers, regardless of visa status. You must complete it online within seven days before your flight. Airlines will deny boarding if you don't present the approved digital confirmation.
How can Canadians extend their stay beyond the initial entry stamp?
Immigration officers typically grant a 30-day stay upon arrival. If you wish to stay longer, you must apply for an extension at the DIMAS (immigration) office before your current authorization expires. Visa-exempt Canadians can extend their tourist stay up to a maximum of 90 days total, or up to 180 days if they own real estate or a timeshare on the island. You'll need to show proof of valid travel insurance covering the entire extension period.
Can Canadians legally work remotely in Aruba under a tourist status?
You can't legally work for or receive compensation from a local Aruban business while on a tourist entry. However, you're permitted to work remotely for your Canadian employer as a digital nomad during your visa-free stay, provided you aren't selling goods or providing services to local entities.
Does the visa exemption cover multiple entries into Aruba?
Yes. You can leave and re-enter Aruba multiple times as long as your total number of days spent on the island doesn't exceed 90 days within any 180-day timeframe. Keep in mind that you must submit a new ED Card and pay the $20 USD sustainability fee for each individual flight entry.
