Cruise Ship Visa Exemption:

The British Virgin Islands (BVI) has a flexible visa policy designed to accommodate both short-term visitors and longer-term residents, with different options depending on nationality, travel purpose, and length of stay.
Many travelers can enter the BVI without a visa and receive a Visitor Entry Stamp upon arrival. This includes citizens of the United Kingdom and most Commonwealth countries, as well as those holding valid UK, US, or Canadian visas. These travelers can typically stay for up to 30 days, with extensions available.
For travelers who are not visa-exempt, the BVI offers several visa types, including Tourist, Business, and Student Visas, all of which must be obtained in advance.
Anyone planning to work in the BVI must secure a Work Permit, sponsored by a local employer. Other categories, such as Transit Permits and the Cruise Ship Visa Exemption, support short-term and non-traditional travel scenarios.
In addition to these, most travelers must complete the British Virgin Islands ED Card before arrival. This mandatory digital travel document helps immigration authorities process arrivals smoothly and is not a visa but a required entry step.

To visit the British Virgin Islands, travelers must either be visa-exempt, hold a valid BVI visa, or possess an accepted visa from another authority. The BVI accepts certain valid visas as substitutes, such as a UK Visitor Visa or ETA, or a valid US, Canadian, or Schengen visas or residence permits in some cases. These documents may allow you to enter the British Virgin Islands without a separate BVI visa, depending on your nationality and how long you plan to stay. We offer both the UK ETA and UK Visitor Visa if you qualify to enter the BVI using either of these options.
The British Virgin Islands (BVI) is a British Overseas Territory. Entry rules follow UK-aligned visa policies. The local currency is the US dollar, but immigration is controlled by BVI authorities. You can apply for the ED Card online through iVisa. The process is quick and digital. You’ll need a valid passport, a recent passport photo, and your travel details.
