- Who it's for
- Travelers from eligible countries who do not have visa-free access to the European Union and want to visit Iceland for a short stay. There is no age exemption, so every child, including infants, needs their own application and their own visa.
- Permitted activities
- Tourism, business and transit. Working and living in the Schengen area are not permitted on this visa. Business files need an invitation from the host company, while a private visit needs a certificate from the host.
- Where you apply
- This is an embassy visa, so you apply at the consulate of the country you intend to visit. If you are visiting more than one country, apply at the consulate where you will spend the most time, or the country you enter first when the stays are equal.
- Biometrics
- Your fingerprints and photo are collected in person at the consulate, and the government fee is paid at that appointment. If you gave fingerprints for a Schengen visa recently, they can be retrieved from the Visa Information System and you may not need a new appointment.
- Delivery format
- A sticker placed in your passport by the consulate, not a digital document. It is valid at all external borders of the Schengen area.
- Validity
- Valid for 90 days
- Entry
- Single entry
- Length of stay
- Stay up to 90 days per entry
- Processing time
- Get it in as fast as 45 days

My experience with iVisa.com was extremely beneficial because the site made it easy to fill out the application form for travel, in addition, questions were answered by a staff member in a timely fashion. Thank you!!
Experience was great! Timely replies and certificate arrived as promised. I had some misinformation and they requested correction and followed up promptly.
Really fast service. With all the hoops to jump through these days this was by far the most easiest part.
My name is Muhammad ijaz malik from pakistan Im very interested here this job opportunity in usa and other place
Scam Charged me for a free document. Thought this was the only way to get pre reg form thanks google.
confusing in some areas specially on purchases. prefer at the end of the whole process if the note that it cannot be submitted till 72 hrs. before arrival to Iceland. Was left wondering what to do next after invoice paid as at the end no button to click, would have been better if at the end it said will send confirmation of end of process as application can only be processed 72 hrs before arrival.
Left it rather late to apply for a pre registration form.Ivisa came up trumps and had my form ready in a couple of hours.I paid extra of course but it was worth it.Worry over.Form was easy and quick to complete
The information was clear, well organized and easy to follow. Thank you for making it so understandable.
Your response was so fast. Thank you so much for all of your support.
I got my health visa back in one day. Great service !!
Iceland visa FAQs
Quick answers to the most common questions about the Iceland Schengen Visa.
Still have questions?
Our visa experts are available 24/7 on chat, email, and WhatsApp.
Do I need an Iceland Schengen Visa?
If your nationality requires a visa to enter Iceland and is not on the visa-free list, you’ll need a Schengen Visa to enter Iceland and all other Schengen member states for tourism or business.
Can I apply for an Iceland Schengen Visa online?
While you can start the process and fill out the application form online through iVisa, the Schengen rules require you to attend an in-person appointment for biometric collection (fingerprints and photo) and to submit your physical documents at a consulate or visa center.
How will I receive the Iceland Schengen Visa?
After the authorities in Iceland process your application, you will receive your passport back with the visa sticker attached, ready for your trip. You can also find a copy of your Schengen Visa confirmation in your iVisa dashboard if applied through us.
How long can I stay in Iceland?
The standard short-stay visa (Type C) allows you to stay for a maximum of 90 days within any 180-day period in the Schengen Area. This applies to the entire Schengen Zone, not just Iceland. If you have a multiple-entry visa, you must still adhere to the 90/180-day rule.
Can I extend my stay in Iceland?
Schengen Visa extensions are rarely granted. You can generally only extend your visa in cases of force majeure (e.g., natural disasters or flight cancellations), humanitarian reasons, or serious personal reasons that prevent you from leaving. You must apply at the local Foreigners' Authority before your visa expires.
What is the processing time of an Iceland Schengen Visa?
The standard processing time is 15 calendar days from the moment your application reaches the Iceland Consulate. However, it can take up to 45 days during peak seasons or if additional document verification is required. We recommend applying at least 2 months before your trip.
Do children/minors need an Iceland Schengen Visa?
Yes. Every traveler, including infants and minors, requires their own visa. For minors, the application must be signed by both parents/legal guardians, and a birth certificate must be provided along with a notarized travel consent form if the child is traveling alone or with only one parent.
What is the difference between a Schengen Visa and ETIAS?
The Schengen Visa is for travelers who are not visa-exempt. The ETIAS (launching late 2026) is a digital travel authorization for citizens of visa-exempt countries (like the US, UK, and Canada). If you currently need a visa to enter Iceland, you will continue to need a Schengen Visa.
