Japanese visa policy for Filipino citizens

Philippine citizens need a visa to visit Japan. In some cases, Philippine citizens who hold a valid residence permit in an eligible third country (such as the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, of certain EU jurisdictions) may be able to apply for a Japan eVisa online for short-term tourism, provided they apply from their country of legal residence. Philippine travelers who do not meet the eVisa eligibility requirements must apply through the Japanese Embassy or an authorized visa center in the Philippines.

iVisa offers one entry document for Philippine travelers (when eligible):

  • Japan eVisa: an electronic visa available for Philippine citizens who legally reside in eligible countries and are traveling to Japan for short-term tourism. The application is completed online and must be approved before travel.

General Japan visa requirements for Philippine travelers are:

  • A Philippine passport valid for the duration of stay
  • Proof of legal residence in an eligible country (if applying for the Japan eVisa)
  • Confirmed onward or return travel ticket
  • Proof of accommodation and travel itinerary
  • Evidence of sufficient funds for the duration of the stay
  • Additional supporting documents depending on visa type (residence permit, invitation letter, employment proof)
