Malaysian visa policy for Indian citizens

Indian citizens usually need a visa to visit Taiwan, unless they qualify for visa-free entry through a Travel Authorization Certificate. If they don't qualify, they'll need to apply for a Taiwan Visitor Visa through a Taiwan embassy or consulate in India. Indian nationals can obtain a Taiwanese Visa for a maximum stay of 30 days only if they are traveling with an approved tour group.

  • Taiwan Travel Authorization Certificate (TAC): This document allows Indian citizens a visa-free entry to Taiwan for 14 days if they hold a valid visa or residence permit from an eligible country (for example, from the US, Canada, UK, Japan, or a Schengen country).

  • Taiwan Arrival Card (TWAC): A mandatory entry document to be submitted digitally before arrival, which collects key details such as your passport information, contact details, trip purpose, and accommodation address in Taiwan.

    General Taiwan visa requirements for India travelers are:

  • Indian passport valid for at least six months
  • Passport-size photo
  • Confirmed round-trip flight ticket and accommodation reservation
  • Cover letter stating purpose and itinerary
  • Bank statements (recent 3 months)
  • Business of invitation letter (if applicable)

Yes, Indian citizens need a visa or travel authorization to enter Taiwan. India is not on Taiwan’s visa-exemption list, so you can’t enter visa-free like some other nationalities.

This depends on the document you're applying for:

  • Visitor visa (traditional): Usually 2-7 working days, depending on the application location and season.
  • eVisa (if eligible): Around 7 working days after online submission.
  • Travel Authorization Certificate (TAC): Usually 1-3 working days. With iVisa, you can get your Taiwan Travel Authorization in as little as 1 day, depending on your eligibility and documentation.

Indian citizens granted a short-term visa or eVisa are typically authorized to remain in Taiwan for up to 30 days. The Taiwan Travel Authorization allows a stay of up to 14 days.

Longer stays for purposes such as employment, study, or residency require a separate long-term visa or residence permit issued under different regulations.

Indian passport holders do not require a visa when transiting through a Taiwanese airport without passing immigration control. However, if the transit involves exiting the airport of clearing immigration, a valid Taiwan visa of entry authorization is required.

Certain short-term visas issued to Indian citizens may be eligible for extension through Taiwan’s National Immigration Agency, provided the visa is not marked “No Extension.” Extensions are assessed on a case-by-case basis and depend on the visa type, purpose of stay, and compliance with immigration regulations.
