Mexico is one of the loveliest destinations you can escape to, which is why it is important for you to take into account that there’s a few extra steps to take before boarding the plane. In order to visit Mexico, you will need to present a [Forma Migratoria Multiple (FMM)] (/mexico-tourist-visa?country=US#how_to_apply) upon your entry, which translates into Mexico Tourist Card. Note that this document is not an e-Visa, but you’re still required to pay this tourist fee. If you want to apply for an FMM, there’s a few things you should know to enjoy hassle-free experience.
You need a few documents
When applying for a Mexico tourist card, you need to have a few documents at hand. It is nothing difficult to obtain, and odds are you already have them. You need a valid passport, a valid email address, an airplane ticket (the arrival date and flight number are the most important,) and a means of payment. The latter can be a credit/debit card or a Paypal account. That is pretty much it. As long as you have all of those ready, you can proceed with the application.
The process is straightforward
The application itself is very short and will only take a few minutes to complete. All you have to do is fill in your basic information on this form. Afterwards, you will be asked to select the type of transportation you will be arriving on (air or land), and the processing time, which you will have available in three options: the Standard Processing Time allows your FMM to be ready in one business day, which means you will be able to get your tourist card overnight; the second option is Rush Processing Time, which will have your tourist card ready in two hours; and the Super Rush Processing Time will provide the document in 15 minutes.
What about the fees?
The prices differ depending on your way of travel. Just to make things clear, the total price of a tourist card consists of a service fee and a visa cost. However, there is no visa cost if you travel by plane. When you travel by car, that cost is 25$ (or the equivalent in your country’s currency.) The fees are also dictated by the processing time you choose. For the UK, the Standard processing is 16.39 GBP, the Rush processing is 32.78 GBP, and the Super rush processing is 49.17 GBP. If you travel from the UK to the US, and then go to Mexico by car, you need a different type of card, and you will have to pay the extra 25$.
The Mexico tourist card for UK citizens is valid up to 180 days. You can get one that is valid for 60 days at first, but you can extend it in-country. Keep in mind that the FMM can be used both for tourism and business purposes, and it provides a single entry. iVisa can help you obtain this permit hassle-free, cheap, and most importantly, in a rush.
