Mexico is a lovely vacation destination, which is why it is important to know that apart from the usual preparations you have to make before you leave, you also need a Forma Migratoria Multiple (FMM), which translates into Mexico Tourist Card. You do not need e visa to go on vacation, but you have to pay this tourism fee. If you want a hassle-free experience here is what you must know.
When applying for a Mexico tourist card, you need to have a few documents at hand. It is nothing difficult to obtain, and chances are you already have them. You need a valid passport, a valid email address, an airplane ticket (the arrival date and flight number are the most important,) and a means of payment. The latter can be a credit/debit card or a Paypal account. That is pretty much it. As long as you have all of those ready, you can proceed with the application.
The application itself will only take you a few minutes. All you have to do is put in your basic information. After you are done with that, you need to select the card type (air or land), and the processing time. As far as the processing time goes, you have three options. The Standard processing time means that your FMM will be ready in one business day. Basically, you get your tourist card overnight. The second option is Rush processing, and it means that your tourist card is ready in two hours. Last but not least, the Super rush processing will provide the document in 15 minutes. You can apply for that on your way to the airport or to the border (if you travel by car.)
The prices differ depending on your way of travel. Just to make things clear, the total price of a tourist card consists of a service fee and a visa cost. However, there is no visa cost if you travel by plane. When you travel by car, that cost is 25$ (or the equivalent in your country’s currency.) The fees are also dictated by the processing time you choose. For the UK, the prices are as follows. I think it is safe to assume that you will be traveling by plane. After all, it is a different continent. The Standard processing costs 16.39 GBP, the Rush processing is 32.78 GBP, and the Super rush processing is 49.17 GBP. If you travel from the UK to the US, and then go to Mexico by car, you need a different type of card, and you will have to pay the extra 25$.
The Mexico tourist card for UK citizens is valid up to 180 days. You can get one that is valid for 60 days at first, but you can extend it in-country.
You can use the FMM for both tourism and business purposes, and it provides a single entry. You have to admit that iVisa provides a convenient way of paying your Mexico tourist card. It is hassle-free, cheap, and most importantly, it is a speedy process.
