Learn More: Visa on Arrival

In 2015, Thailand set up a system to allow travelers from certain nationalities to apply in advance for their Visa on Arrival. Three years later, in 2018, the government developed a special service for holders of a pre-approved electronic visa. You will receive your visa stamp when you arrive at the Visa on Arrival counters at the airport of arrival. The cost of the e-Visa on Arrival is 2,000 THB. From November 2018 until the 30th of April 2019 the Immigration Bureau is waiving this fee to travelers.

NOTE: This electronic pre-registration process is only available for travelers passing through Suvarnabhumi Airport, Don Mueang Airport, Phuket Airport, and Chiang Mai Airport and will save you time at these busy airports.

IMPORTANT: Our service does NOT provide an actual Visa. We will provide you with a QR code as the electronic pre-registration document that must be presented upon entry to receive your actual Visa on Arrival.

This electronic pre-registration service is only available for travelers entering via Suvarnabhumi Airport, Don Mueang Airport, Phuket Airport, and Chiang Mai Airport.

For travelers flying into another airport, you will have to obtain your VOA at that airport upon arrival.

People who travel to see Asia cannot stay away from Thailand. It is a frequent destination where you can have a lot of fun. You must know some stories about Bangkok, don’t you? The place that never sleeps and where parties are 24/7. That may not be entirely true, but if you do find yourself in Bangkok, you will have the feeling that the party never stops. Even so, Thailand is so much more than its capital city. In fact, one of the best places you experience in Thailand is the one that no one ever visits. That is its countryside. People rarely go there, and that is the beauty of the rural areas. Even if Thailand does not require much research in terms of restrictions, there are some things that you should probably know before going there. The first one is that animal tourism is a thing there, but you should stay away from it. I know that it may sound cute, and the photos of you taking a picture with a tiger or on the back of an elephant will get tons of likes and comments, but it is not worth it. Those animals are usually abused, and nobody wants to be a part of animal cruelty. The whole point is to persuade fewer and fewer people to do it, and at one point in the future, those who offer those animals as ‘attractions’ will go out of business. You should advocate for that. Speaking of animals, you will see a lot of stray dogs in Thailand. That is another thing that may put you off if you love animals, especially dogs. You should know that people take care of as many as they can by providing food and water, but many of them are hungry. You should stay away as much as possible from them, even if you feel pity. Remember that you had nothing to do with it and move forward. Do not let anyone else’s issues affect your vacation. Lastly, you should never feed the monkeys you will find on beaches. And you will encounter a lot of them. The problem with feeding the monkeys is that they become dependent on people to feed them, and they will do poorly in the wild after. Plus, they can do some damage by stealing purses, bags, and even clothes. And all that just to get some food. That is not their fault. It people’s fault for encouraging that kind of behavior thinking that they are cute little robbers. Leaving animals aside, you should probably know that Thai food in is a whole lot different than in the western countries. You probably are familiar with the popular Thai dish Pad Thai, right? It is found in every Thai restaurant around the world. Do you know who does not appreciate it as much? The Thai people. It is more of a snack for them rather than a signature dish. The real Thai food is a lot better. The spices seem to be different, and those noodles have a better texture. You cannot leave Thailand until you explored all of its cuisines. As for communication, it is relatively easy to get around in Thailand. A lot of people speak English, and even if they do not speak it, they understand. You must realize that tourism is a big part of Thailand’s economy, with millions of people going there every single year. It is only natural that locals know English. A piece of truth that many people do not want to hear is the fact that most popular locations in Thailand are often the worst to be in. Of course, it depends on what you are looking for in Thailand. If you want the busy life and the party, then Bangkok will suit you. However, if you want some peace and quiet, you need to search them someplace else. Popular locations are full all day long, and you will be the needle in the haystack. Nobody will ever find you. Go to an isolated beach or in the countryside. You will find a lot of good food, good people, and good music. Plus, the nights are silent, and you can see the stars. As for culture, very few people go to Thailand for the ruins. Even so, there are some that you may enjoy. They are not as spectacular as the Angkor Wat in Cambodia, but you take what you can get. However, Thai people have their own traditions that you must respect. There are not many rules for tourists, but you should probably follow the ones that do exist. For example, it is unacceptable to point your feet up or at someone. You will see tourists with their feet up on a tuk-tuk, but locals look at them with disgust. That is because in Thai culture, the feet are the most unclean part of the body, while the head is the cleanest. So, unless you are in a hammock at the beach, there is no excuse for you not to keep your feet down. It is as simple as that. Thailand may not have many restrictions, but the one golden rule that you should always follow is to not buy illegal drugs. People think that just because Thailand is lenient when it comes to anything else, they can do whatever they want. They could not be more wrong. Thailand has one of the most severe drug laws in the world, and you will go to jail if you are caught with drugs on you. And don’t you think you will not be searched. Police are allowed to do random searches on the street. They will check your body, cavities, and your luggage. You should not take such risks and stick to the alcohol. There is plenty. There are a lot of other things that could be said about Thailand. However, the tips above should help you have a clearer picture of the country. One thing is sure, though. If you do have the chance of traveling to Thailand, you should not hesitate. It is an amazing country that is worth your while.
