New Zealand Visitor Visa This visa allows stays of up to nine months for tourism, visiting family, or short-term study. Applicants must apply online, prove they have sufficient funds (at least NZD 1,000 per month), and provide a return ticket to Pakistan. It does not permit any form of employment.
Other Relevant Visas The Accredited Employer Work Visa is for those with a job offer from a certified New Zealand company. The Fee-Paying Student Visa is required for full-time courses exceeding three months. The Business Visitor Visa facilitates short trips for meetings or conferences without entering the local labor market.
For the New Zealand Visitor Visa, most applications are currently finalized within three weeks, though half are typically decided in about 1.5 weeks. The Business Visitor Visa is much faster, often taking only 4 to 14 days, while the Accredited Employer Work Visa usually ranges from 3 to 7 weeks. Student Visas generally require 4 to 8 weeks, leading Immigration New Zealand to recommend applying at least three months before your course starts to avoid delays.
If you wish to visit for business purposes, the Business Visitor Visa allows for shorter stays of up to three months in a single year. Once you have reached the maximum 12-month total stay on a visitor visa (which may include extensions), you are generally required to remain outside of New Zealand for a further 12 months before applying for another visitor visa.
However, there is an exception: if you are transiting specifically to or from Australia and hold a valid Australian visa, you can apply for a New Zealand Electronic Travel Authority (NZeTA) instead, which is typically faster and cheaper than a full Transit Visa. If your transit involves any airport other than Auckland, or if you need to collect your luggage and clear immigration, you will need a standard Visitor Visa regardless of your destination.
