-
Train in childcare, healthcare, or for professions like a doctor or nurse.
-
Sell directly to the public in Australia.
-
Take up paid employment in Australia.

Eligibility criteria for the Australia ETA
Besides nationality, you must meet the following criteria to be eligible for the ETA:
-
Be a genuine visitor: You will visit Australia for a temporary stay and obey any condition or stay period attached to your ETA.
-
Be in good health: If you plan to use the Australian health care or hospital environments, you should apply for a Australia Visitor Visa (subclass 600) instead.
-
Be of good character: If you have a criminal record in any country, you will need to apply for a Visitor Visa (subclass 600) and provide information about your criminal convictions.
-
No debts owed to the Australian government: If you or any family members owe the Australian government money, it needs to be paid back or have an arrangement in place to repay it before applying.
-
Best interests of the child: In the case of applicants under 18 years old, the ETA is granted only if it's in the best interest of the child.

-
Rush: If you need the ETA a little quicker than usual, choose this option for an additional fee.
-
Super Rush: Get your ETA in the quickest time possible for an express fee.
It's important to note that the processing costs associated with using our service do not include the official government visa fee.
Do I need the Australia ETA to transit through the country?
If you're transiting through Australia for less than 8 hours and you remain in the transit area, you don't have to apply for an ETA.
We recommend checking the website of your local Australian embassy or consulate to get the latest information.
Differences between the Australia Visitor Visa, eVisitor Visa, and the ETA
The Australia Visitor Visa (Subclass 600), eVisitor Visa (Subclass 651), and the Australia ETA (Subclass 601) are all travel documents that allow entry into Australia. However, they cater to different travel needs and have distinct characteristics.
-
ETA: This is an electronic authorization granted to citizens of specific countries. It permits multiple entries, with each stay up to 3 months within a 12-month period. The ETA is typically used for tourism and short-term business trips.
-
eVisitor Visa: Available only to passport holders of certain European countries. You can stay up to 3 months per visit within a 12-month period. The online application process is similar to the ETA, but may require more documentation.
-
Visitor Visa: This visa is for individuals who plan to visit Australia for tourism, business, or family visits. It allows stays of up to 3, 6, or 12 months. The application process typically includes an embassy visit.
Choosing which travel document to apply for depends on your nationality and the purpose of your stay.

Hi Alison,
Since you were in Australia from November 30, 2024, to January 12, 2025, and now plan to return from February 20, 2025, until April 3, 2025, whether you need a new ETA depends on your current visa’s validity. The ETA (subclass 601) is valid for 12 months from the date it’s granted and allows multiple entries, with each stay lasting up to three months. If your ETA is still valid, you won’t need a new one; your upcoming visit will be covered as long as you don’t overstay the three-month limit per visit.
It’s always a good idea to double-check the expiry date of your ETA before booking flights. If it’s still active, you’re good to go. But if it has expired or will expire before your return date, you’ll need to apply for a new one before traveling.
We offer a stress-free application process with expert review, so you don’t have to worry about any errors that could cause delays. If you need more information, please contact our customer support team through iVisa chat or WhatsApp.
Hi Mark,
That’s a tricky situation, but the good news is that you do have options. Since your previous visa was issued under your German passport, you’ll need to use that passport again for your upcoming trip. Australian visas are electronically linked to the passport they were issued under, so even though you’re a Canadian citizen, your existing visa is only valid when traveling on your German passport. If you try to enter Australia with your Canadian passport, the system won’t recognize you as having a valid visa, which could cause unnecessary delays or even prevent you from boarding your flight.
If you'd rather use your Canadian passport for future trips, you’ll need to apply for a new ETA (subclass 601) or another suitable visa using that passport. However, since your trip is just two weeks away, it may not be te best idea to reapply right now. The best option is to travel with your German passport for this trip and, once you’re back, apply for an ETA under your Canadian passport for future visits. That way, everything will be properly linked, and you won’t run into any problems returning to Canada using your Canadian passport.
If you decide to apply for a new visa with your Canadian passport, we can help you through the process with an expert review to avoid common mistakes that could lead to delays or rejections.
Hey Emily,
As a Singaporean passport holder, you’re eligible for an ETA (subclass 601), which allows you to visit Australia for tourism for up to three months per stay within 12 months. However, Australia has strict character requirements, and any past legal issues—including a warning letter for shoplifting—need to be declared when you apply.
Having a warning letter doesn’t automatically mean your visa will be refused, but immigration authorities review each case individually. The most important thing is to be honest in your application. If you don’t declare it and it shows up in background checks, your visa could be denied or canceled. If you’re unsure, it’s always better to apply early in case they request additional information.
If you’d like help with your application, we make the process easy and ensure everything is handled properly so you don’t run into any issues. When you're ready, you can reach out to our customer support team through iVisa chat or WhatsApp.
Hey Neil,
Because you hold a South African passport, you won’t be able to apply for an ETA, but you can apply for a Visitor Visa (subclass 600) instead. This visa covers tourism and events like the Chasing the Sun golf tournament, and you’ll need to provide details about your trip, including proof of funds, accommodation, and return flights.
Since your travel involves multiple stops across Australia—Adelaide, Ceduna, Kalgoorlie, and back to Adelaide—it’s a good idea to include a detailed itinerary in your application so immigration authorities can understand the purpose of your visit. Processing times for the Visitor Visa can vary, so it’s best to apply early to avoid any delays that might affect your trip.
If you’re looking for a stress-free way to handle your visa application, we can take care of the process for you so you can focus on your travel plans instead. Reach out to our customer support team via iVisa chat or WhatsApp.
Hi Marissa,
Because you have a British passport, you’re eligible for an ETA (subclass 601), which lets you stay in Australia for up to three months per visit and is valid for multiple trips within a year. Since you’re planning to visit Australia for a week while staying in the Philippines, you’ll only need one ETA to cover your travel. It’s a quick online application, but it’s always best to apply ahead of time so there are no unexpected delays.
For your sister, who has a Philippine passport, an ETA isn’t an option. Instead, she’ll need a Visitor Visa (subclass 600), which has a different application process and takes longer to process. She’ll need to provide documents like proof of funds, a return ticket, and possibly a travel itinerary. Since her visa isn’t as fast to process as yours, she should apply early enough to avoid any issues with your planned travel dates.
If you want to get your ETA and your sister's Visitor Visa sorted quickly, we can help you with that. Reach out to our customer support team via iVisa chat or WhatsApp.
Hi Catherine,
You won’t need to apply for two separate ETAs. Since the ETA (subclass 601) allows multiple entries within 12 months, one application will cover your entire trip, even though you’re leaving Australia for New Zealand in between. Each stay can be up to three months, so your 4-day visit, 10 days in New Zealand, and then another 2 days back in Australia will all be covered under the same ETA.
If you haven’t applied yet, it’s a quick online process, but approvals aren’t always instant. It’s best to get it sorted early so you can focus on planning your vacation instead of worrying about visa approvals. We make the process easy, so if you want to avoid any stress, you can apply through us.
Hi Joanna,
That’s an easy mistake to make, but don’t worry, we can help you out. The Australia ETA (subclass 601) covers both tourism and business purposes, so having “business” on your application doesn’t necessarily mean you have to redo it.
If you applied through our platform, please reach out to our customer support team as soon as possible so that we can correct the application. However, since business visitors are also allowed to attend conferences, make general business inquiries, or explore opportunities in Australia, the label itself won’t affect your ability to enter the country as a tourist.
If you want total peace of mind, another option is applying for a new ETA with the correct details; this might be the simplest fix if you haven’t traveled yet. Contact us through iVisa chat or WhatsApp, and we’ll guide you on the best course of action.
Hey Reyna,
That’s amazing; running in the Sydney Marathon is a huge achievement. Unfortunately, since Philippine passport holders aren’t eligible for the Australia ETA, you’ll need to apply for a Visitor Visa (subclass 600) instead. This visa works for people traveling for tourism, family visits, or short-term events like the Sydney Marathon.
The Visitor Visa allows stays of up to three, six, or even 12 months in some cases. Processing times vary, so apply as early as possible to avoid any delays before your big race.
If you want to skip the complicated forms and paperwork, we can help with the application process. We make it easier to apply as a family, submit your documents, and avoid errors that might delay approval. Contact us any time via iVisa chat or WhatsApp.
Hi Albert,
Mistakes like this are more common than you’d think, and it’s great that you caught it early. The best thing to do is to correct it before traveling to avoid any problems at the border. Since the ETA is electronically linked to her passport, incorrect details might cause delays or even rejection upon arrival.
If your wife got her ETA through our platform, reach out to our customer support team, and we’ll guide you through the correction process. Otherwise, you can also choose to apply for a new ETA with the correct details; this is sometimes the fastest solution if the trip is coming up soon.
Hi Andrew,
Your mother can absolutely apply for an Australia ETA (subclass 601) even if she hasn’t finalized her exact travel date yet. The ETA isn’t tied to a specific flight date, so entering March 1st as the intended travel date won’t be an issue if she actually travels on March 10th instead. As long as she enters Australia within the validity period of her ETA, she’ll have no problems at immigration.
Once approved, the ETA is valid for 12 months from the issue date, allowing multiple entries into Australia, with each stay lasting up to three months. That means she can visit her brother in Adelaide without worrying about minor changes to her travel plans. The important thing is that her passport details are correct when applying, as the ETA is electronically linked to her passport.
If she applies through our platform, she’ll get real-time updates on her application, and we’ll make sure everything is handled correctly from start to finish. Even if she needs to adjust her plans later, her ETA will still be valid for future trips within the year. If you need any help getting her application started, please get in touch with our customer support team via iVisa chat or WhatsApp.
Hi Irene,
That sounds like an amazing opportunity for both your research and your family. Since you’ll be in Australia for research purposes, the best option for you is likely the Research Activities Stream of the Temporary Activity Visa (subclass 408). This visa is designed for researchers who have been invited to participate in research projects in Australia. Because your stay is under three months, you may not need an official sponsor, but it’s always a good idea to check with the institution that is hosting you.
For your husband and daughters, the eVisitor Visa (subclass 651) is the best choice since they are Spanish passport holders. This visa allows them to stay in Australia for up to three months at a time and is valid for multiple entries within a 12-month period. It’s perfect for your family since they won’t be working or studying and are just accompanying you on your trip.
Since you mentioned traveling to New Zealand and other destinations, make sure to check whether you or your family need a visa for those countries as well. While Spanish citizens can often enter New Zealand visa-free for short stays, it’s still a good idea to confirm the requirements before traveling to avoid any issues.
Hi Rashad,
We can definitely understand how frustrating it is when your family has already received their Australia ETAs and yours is still pending. If your country of birth was incorrectly entered as Germany instead of Azerbaijan, that could be the reason for the delay. The Australian immigration system checks all personal details carefully, and any inconsistency can lead to additional verification.
We know how important it is to get your visa finalized, and we’re here to make the process as smooth as possible for you. If you applied through our platform, please contact our customer support team via iVisa chat or WhatsApp so that we can figure out how best to sort out this problem.

Hi Jessica,
It’s always best for the name on your Australia ETA (subclass 601) to match exactly what’s on your passport, including hyphens and special characters. Even small differences can cause issues when you arrive in Australia, as immigration officers check that your visa details match your passport exactly.
If you applied through iVisa, please reach out to us as soon as possible. Our team will check your application and help you correct the mistake if possible. It’s better to fix this now rather than run into trouble at immigration when you land.

Hi Christine,
When applying for an Australia ETA (subclass 601), you’ll need to provide a recent passport photo that clearly shows your current appearance. Even though your passport is valid until 2026, the Australian authorities require a new, clear photo for the ETA application.
If you apply with us, we make this part simple. You can upload a digital photo, and if it doesn’t meet the Australian government’s requirements, we’ll let you know so you can submit a new one. This helps prevent any delays in your application.
